Al Teatro is a lovely b&b in Venice. It's the perfect location..close to San Marco and to the vaparetto stop, but in a quiet neighborhood. We LOVED that right below our windows are the passing gondolas and we could hear the gondoliers singing and the singers in the famous opera house (only when we opened our windows). It was really...

i stayed here with my girlfriend for four nights. great location, maybe a five minute walk to the piazza san marco and the doge's palace. the best thing about staying at Al Teatro is the owner, Eleonora. she and her family live in this bed & breakfast. having a local to talk to (in english!) over breakfast every morning was...

I have to say my wife and I were somewhat skeptical as we trudged up three flights of crumbling stone stairs to the entrance of Eleonora’s B&B and home (by law, the owner must live onsite). But what a pleasant surprise when she showed us to our room! We had chosen the Amber Room and couldn’t have been more pleased....

After several visits to Venice, we have now found the perfect place to stay. Al Teatro is close to all the main sights such as San Marco but in a quiet neighborhood and conveniently located near the Giglio vaporetto stop. Our lovely, immaculate ensuite room looked out on the convergence of 2 canals where we were delighted to see gondolas...

What a wonderful stay in Venice! Al Teatro was perfect in every way … largely due to our wonderful hostess, Eleonora. She was more than helpful in arranging transportation services, dinner reservations, and helping us determine what we should be certain to see in our time in Venice. The B&B is located in her family home, which has been in...

Our gracious host, Eleonora warmly welcomed us to this lovely Bed and Breakfast. Our rooms were clean and comfortable with a great view. The breakfast area was charming. We loved that Al Teatro is on a quiet canal but close to the Water Taxi and interesting sights in Venice. This was our first time in Italy and we will be...

We spent 3 nights here and felt like home. The place was in a quiet area but very easy to go anywhere, especially St. Mark's Square. We stayed in a fully-equipped and spacious quadruple room with comfortable beds and a long balcony. Sometimes, we came back to get changed or take a rest, we would open the doors at the...

We enjoyed our 3 night stay in this charming family owned and operated B&B. This 600 year old palazzo is the childhood home of our hostess, Eleonora, who was accomodating and accessible. Breakfasts included a nice assortment of cereals, juice, fruit, pastries, and made to order cappuccinos of course! Some mornings even included cold meats and cheese. She provided us...

Spent 3 nights in Venice at Al Teatro in late May/early June and everything was great. The room and bathroom were spacious, A/C worked well and Eleonora was a very helpful, gracious host. Wifi was free for I think up to the first 3 or 4 hours and then every 3 or 4 hours thereafter was just a few euro...

My fiance and I recently visited Venice & at the last minute changed our accommodation from a large hotel to this quiet family run bed & breakfast. How lucky were we as we landed in Al Teatro. This quaint B&B is in a prime location for those travellers keen to wake up close to the main tourist attractions and within...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
