We stayed here for two nights at 150 euros a night expecting decent accommodation. The staff is lovely and very helpful however the rooms are extremely small and the bathrooms even smaller. The windows to the rooms don't open and can get very stuffy. We essentially used the room to get sleep at night because we would get claustrophobic within...

At first online picture glances, I wasn't sure about this hotel but it turned out to be better than I expected. The location could not have been any better for me, I have to say I got lucky, and for the price (150 Euros/night for a double). It was just me but I like a big bed. There was also...

Very easy to find, located at the base of the Rialto Bridge, narrow alley, the Disney shop is on the corner. 10 minutes from the train station by the public water taxi. Nice little rooms, bed is comfortable, bathroom is small and the towels are actually linen. The sisters who manage the hotel are lovely and very enthusiastic. They recommended...

Perfect little hotel less than a minute away from the Rialto Bridge. The owners are incredible, when we arrived they were prepared with several restaurant recommendations. Although the hotel is very central, it is down a small alley, so it is actually very quiet.

Location: You can't go wrong with this. The Rialto bridge is less than a minute walk, which means the vaporettos and gondolas can easily be accessed. Price: Paid about 115 EUR for two nights, two people, directly through their website. For Venice, and considering the hotel's great location, THIS IS A STEAL. Hotel: Absolutely charming. Although the only available room...

My husband and I stayed at the San Salvador for 2 nights over the Easter weekend. The hotel is in a great location, just minutes from the Rialto bridge and about 10 minutes walk to St Marcs square. It is on a narrow side-street and I was amazed at how peaceful it was despite all the heavy crowds just moments...

This is a nice little hotel. If you want somewhere clean, comfortable and affordable in a great location nearby all the main attractions of Venice then this hotel is for you. The staff were always very friendly and welcoming. The room was small but comfortable and clean. I would stay here again and would recommend to anyone staying in Venice...

I stayed at the Hotel San Salvador for two and half weeks in March, and could not have been more pleased with the hotel. It is small and quiet, the rooms are super clean and comfortable, and the hotel is close to the Rialto Bridge, San Marco piazza and a short walk to L'Accademia. There are wonderful places to eat...

Having travelled around Europe and various other continents I now know that finding a good hotel at a decent price is hard to come by, especially at New year. We visited Venice 6 years ago, again for New Year's Eve and as we found out Venice is a slightly more pricey place, especially at New Years. All hotels are in...

Came here in may with my girlfriend and another couple. I was looking for a cheaply priced hotel that was clean and nice and this place fit. I loved it. It was clean and the staff were incredibly nice. I was around Europe for 2 weeks and their staff were the nicest I came across. Gave us recommendations for dinner...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
