We were gratefully welcomed by friendly staff. They offered us an upgrade to an apartment which was even closer to St Marks square. The apartment was superb. Hospitality was amazing. They couldn't do enough for us. Highly recommended - would definitely stay again. Nigel & Lee NZ

It is a great hotel with great staff. Location is also great - 5 min to Rialto and 10 min. to San Marco square. The room was nice renovated with a quite big bathroom. Breakfast was standard - baking, jams and butter, as well as ham, cheese and boiled eggs. Also I want to note a very friendly and responsive...

My husband and I stayed here in June and found the whole experience to be excellent. I booked by email on recommendation from some other accommodation that I had been told about. I received great communication and perfect instructions on how to find it. Travelling by train, we caught a vaporetto outside the station and it was only a short...

Stayed only for one night, but have to say that we really liked it. The staff was super friendly. Breakfast and Wlan was included. The room was very tiny, but clean and quite new! Very short distance from Rialto bridge. Beware that there is no elevator in that hotel and be prepared to carry your luggages all the way up!

We have stayed in Residence La Campana for 3 days. Service was excellent and staff are extremely friendly. Before our arrival we've received an email with very clear instructions how to get to the hotel. On the arrival we have been given a choice of rooms we wanted to stay in. Rooms are nice and clean with comfy beds and...

Our travel agent chose the hotel for our budget. Getting off the boat at Rialto, the directions to Residenza Ca San Marco, where we were booked, were not easy to follow, particularly when dragging large suitcases over bridges. Eventually we found it and were taken a short walk away to La Campana where we stayed. Lugging heavy bags up 2...

My sister and I booked with Residenza Ca San Marco and we were upgraded to a room in La Campana (just a short walk away). Our room was very spacious and clean. We loved the Venetian décor and the breakfast was a great start for our day. The location was great and we would definitely stay here again.

La Campana is a no frills hotel, but the location is amazing. You have to check into another hotel which is hard to find and then go back to the La Campana as there is no reception in La Campana. Like all old Venician buildings there are lots of stairs and rooms are small. Room was very clean and comfy....

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
