We recently stayed over two nights at this quaint little hotel in Venice. We booked it through route perfect and the booking was smooth and easy and we were really pleased with our find! We were greeted by friendly Laura who also does the breakfasts just to your liking and she speaks good English. As you enter you are welcomed...

first things first, this is a cheap hotel. It's a bit hard to locate , very tired decor, the beds are hard but you won't spend much time there. Easy to get to from Marco Polo airport. Take water bus to "GUGLIE" which is second stop stop from airport €27 return. And then a 6-7 min walk. The hotel is...

Being a Personal Travel Advisor at Atlas Travel, I am looking for location and cleanliness when staying anywhere. Personally seeing the country and the culture is more important than spending money on a flash hotel. This hotel is part of two hotels.. The location is minutes from the train station and water bus station. I cannot rate the location enough....

All I can say about this place is excellent place to stay. A bit hard to find it. entrance located in very narrow aisle. Over all, good location, very nice stuff, nice and clean room and good breakfast. Excellent value for money.

We stayed here for 7 nights from the middle of November. The staff on reception were friendly and helpful both receptionists and the night porter. There is a city tax of 3.50 Euro per person per day but we were charged for 5 days so perhaps weekends are tax free or there is a maximum? It was my wife's birthday...

Just arrived back from a 3 night stay in the Moderno Hotel, As previous reviews it was a little tiricky finding exactly where we had to check in but once we found the right reception desk the very lovely lady showed us to our room and explained about the air conditioning /tv/ breakfast etc. The hotel we found to be...

Liked where we stayed. Buzzy area of Venice. No fridge was a drawback, shower very good. Rom clean if decorated bizarrely. Property entrance in a narrow alley, but our room looked out on street. Happy!

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
