A superb hotel in a quiet suburb of Venice within easy walking of a number of good restaurants and bars. Beautifully decorated and with friendly, helpful staff. Just a few minutes walk from a stop for the airport Alilaguna water bus.
My wife & I can't fault this hotel, everything is spotless. Staff are friendly and nothing is to much trouble.
Breakfast might be busy at times but you know if something runs out it gets replenished quickly so no waiting around.

Do not book with this hotel! Be cautious of "refundable rates"; I chose to book a 'refundable rate' with this hotel (which was more expensive than the non-refundable rate) and after booking was charged the full amount and told it was a non-refundable rate. I...More

Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby
shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.

I like to have arrangements in place before travel. All was arranged by my travel agent, so would recommend either going through them or an online search for a recommended (trip advisor) local water taxi company.

The hotel is in the quieter Jewish quarter but only around 15 minutes walk from the Rialto Bridge and the Piazzale Roma ( Bus Station ) so if walking is not a problem it is an ideal location. From the airport, the quickest method is the Orange Line boat ferry at 15 euro per person .. takes you straight to Orto water bus stop which is around 5 mintutes walk from the hotel.. if you wish to stay in the busier and more tourist area then this is not the hotel for you. You can take the bus / coach from the airport to Piazzale Roma then walk which would work out around 8 Euro each or take the Water Bus from the Piazzale Roma to Orto - adds an extra 7.50 Euro per person to the journey. Hope this helps.
