Casa Rezzonico was nice. The room was comfortable. I wish the weather would have allowed for breakfast outside. Breakfast was not that great. The bathroom was large however and the location was nice. I did like the view of the small canal from our second-story window. We found a great restaurant nearby, Ristoteca Oniga, that I highly recommend.

My Wife and I recently stayed there for 3 nights. It was a serviceable hotel, but just. Rooms were utilitarian, a little cold, although the bathroom was large. The location is great, off the beaten track, but didn't feel far from anything. Nice walks every night getting home. Was a little put off by being told that "the heat is...

We really enjoyed our stay at Casa Rezzonico. The location was great -- easy to get thereforum the train station via vaporetto and walking. We appreciated the security and the friendly assistance of the gentlemen who were there -- and someone was at the desk 24 hours a day. The breakfast was very adequate. The view from our third floor...

Nice location but no amenities at all. Service was average. No real lobby to speak of. Breakfast was pretty dismal. Brewed coffee in Italy?

We stayed there for two nights for the first part of our recent trip to Italy. Our rooms were clean and comfortable and the bathroom was nice as well. I agree that the location is ideal--off the beaten path, but close to to the public boat stop and within easy walking distance of restaurants and the sights. The staff was...

We stayed there in a large quad room with our two children and were very impressed with the room which was elegant and very clean. Well situated for most of the sights of Venice I consider it an ideal location. The only gripe is that the quality of the breakfast wasn't as good as the rest of the hotel. If...

Clean, near the vaporetto station and some lovely restaurants (La Bitta became a favourite), and a decently-sized bathroom (although the shower stall was prone to leaking). We visited in September and the mosquitoes were a plague to me, but not to my friend. A campanile woke us each morning and we had a fresh fruit`n`veg boat just outside our door...

Taking a break from turkey, this year I went to Venice with my daughter and son. The location was great, away from the crowded areas with good places to eat. We felt very safe in the hotel with the locked doors and someone in the lobby at all times. Room was large and we had a great view of the...

Placed along quiet canal it's far enough from very busy tourist area yet easily reached via vaporetto. Staff very nice and pleasant. Great lush green garden for morning Best spot we stayed in a month in Italy.

We stayed here in July and had the attic room which was tight for three of us but as we only had small overnight bags it was fine. They did offer to give us a bigger room but it was fine for us. The room was clean had airconditioning and hot water. The back garden is great for breakfast and...

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
