Ideal location close to the Rialto and the Grand canal, with some fantastic vistas. Easy access to water taxi,s etc but just as easy to find your way around by foot. Some rooms are fairly standard somewhat dark and no views but with that said you're in Venice! (the room's only to sleep in). Breakfast is continental in style and...

Location was great, finding the place was a exciting itself. The palace is from the 14th century and you stay right off the water. The staff was very nice, family oriented, accommodating (not sure what some others have experienced) but Paolo was great!!!! Would stay here 100 times!!!

We stepped in to ask if this was the right hotel for our stay. So I showed the receptionist our hotelbooking on my phone. The hotel has a very similar name to other hotels in the area. The receptionist asked us in a very cheeky way to read on the hotel sign and check ourselves, before he underlined that this...

Although I got lots of directions on how to get there we had minor difficulty finding the place, but the extra walking was worth our time! The service, place, and location were exactly what we needed for our short stay. I recommend this place to any one because it's conveniently located and accommodations were beyond our expectations!

Greate location. Stayed for a weekend with my mother. The staff is really nice. If you travel in winter, bring rubberboots. We had a lovely time, defenatly coming back to venice. Recomend this hotel for a short weekend stay. The breakfast is simple but all you need. The room is tidyed every day.

Room with Canal Grande view. Okay. On one of the best old squares. Workboats delivering goods all day for the area. So far so good, for that is Venice: Gondola's are almost history. But from about 0400 AM the newspapers arrive in a large steel box on wheels. Which wakes you up five times before 0700. Daily. No discount given....

Perfect location between Rialto bridge and San Marco Square. We stayed in a room that slept six overlooking the grand canal. It is set back a bit from Grand Canal and the canal view is a bit narrow. A drawback was being over a bar, so there was some noise at night. But we really loved our balcony overlooking the...

Not for the faint hearted walkers among you! 43 steps to the room..... However, once we got there, it was a lovely big, airy room with views over the canal, gondolas passing by below the window. Very peaceful location. Staff very helpful and polite. Only downside was the breakfast - very basic continental - bread, croissants, cereal, yoghurt etc. Shower...

I've read many of the comments here. A lot of them seem to confuse this hotel with the B&B that is operated next door. The hotel has a steep stairwell, but is not a problem. I think the hotel management would help with luggage if you ask. They are quite friendly. The room (at least the one we had) was...

This little hotel could be a gem in the right hands! How did I not know there was NO elevator and that our bathroom was not en suite? The room looked like it was furnished at a second hand store, but it was large, we had a fridge, and is on the Grand Canal. The staff is nice, especially the...

How to know about the Elevator ? It's easy : you must be able to read ! It's written everywhere online, we have no elevator .. Luckily our guests have never complained about it. About the bathroom, we have 6 bedrooms and each of which has a PRIVATE bathroom. Only 1 room has got the external bathroom (just 1 meter...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
