Everything in Venice is expensive. This B&B provided a very good value compares to others. The room is a bit small but expected for this area. The location is very good, and very quiet. The room is clean. The host provided very good service. The breakfast in the garden was great. Highly recommended.

We had a lovely 3 night stay at Ponte Chiodo. The location is super,we got the valporetto from the airport, got off at F'dmenta Nuove it is a very short walk to the hotel. A quick cup of tea and then off to explore. The grand canal is a very short walk away with the valporetto stop at Ca' d'oro....

The owner and host Mattia Baseggio really made the Venice trip. Mattia was very helpful with great suggestions on "non touristy" places to eat and enjoy. Gave us some great tips on wonderful places to visit. Mattia had personally renovated this very nice B&B so had a great interest in keeping guests happy. The cappuccino and rolls in the morning...

We stayed at the Ponte Chiodo from May 3rd through May 7th. We loved the location because it actually got us away from the tourist section and into the heart of Venice. Our room had an exceptional view of a small canal. We were able to watch families, kids returning from school, and all the hustle and bustle of boats...

We found this to be a nicely appointed and efficiently run B&B. The breakfast on the garden patio was plentiful and attractively laid out and served. The innkeeper's directions and tips for touring the city were very helpful. The little bridge on the canal side is one of the loveliest we spied in Venice. The tile work in the bathrooms...

My wife and I stayed at 3749 Ponte Chiodo for just two nights this past week and we wish we would have planned to stay for a full week. Venice can be a pretty busy city and this was a perfect retreat from the noise and tourist crowds. Our room and bathroom were perfectly cleaned. Mattia, the owner, made us...

We stayed for 3 nights at this B&B and it is a very charming place. Very peaceful, nice breakfasts and Mattia was very kind and helpful. We arrived late and he had set things up for us so we could get in (door code) and find our keys. The only issue we had was with the wi-fi connection which didn't...

We stayed here for eight days in a superior room with a bathroom and a view of a small canal and a larger canal a little ways away. The location was a little out of the way but that is part of what we enjoyed. We watched the locals walk their children to school and walk to work. We were...

Real gem in Venice: clean rooms (we stayed in 3 different), quiet place with the garden for breakfast or evening glass of wine, venetian furniture and atmosphere in the hotel, exellent location and good price! Also, as a lot of people told here, Mattia is a great person. He adviced non-touristik restaurants, antik markets and shops, bookshops (as far we...

This was my first time to Venice, and having read all the raving Tripadvisor reviews on 3749 Ponte Chiodo, I was disappointed. I booked the room here mostly for the perceived value as compared to hotels, along with being a B&B. In all honesty, the room was smaller than anticipated and the bed a bit uncomfortable. The breakfast and cappaccino...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
As our guests write: "A home away from home. Quiet, clean, convenient and very welcoming. Excellent location off the beaten track but still close to everything, located in not touristic and alive Cannaregio's district. If you are looking for lavish 4/5 stars Hotel with huge rooms furnished with fake baroque golden furniture please move on. If you visualize small bridges crossing the little canal outside your window, vine covered walls surrounding a patio and small garden and cappuccino every morning, then this is the place for you! The rooms are cozy and comfortable, their furniture original antique and well refurbished... Remember this is an old, Venetian home. No gyms. No pools. But a nice patio to enjoy breakfast or an evening glass of wine and cheese. You may also have the opportunity to meet some nice people from almost anywhere. The Venetian owner suggests local small restaurants and hidden itineraries through the wonderful unknown Venice". ... more   less
