A perfect stay in a wonderful city !! Spotless and comfortable room with high speed wireless internet. The bath was very clean and the water was always hot .the breakfast for accommodation in Italy was very good compared to other 3-star hotels that have stayed. The next time you will be back in Venice we will go there again!

We found this little hotel thanks to a recommendation of a friend in Florence. It was charming and "out of the way of the maddening crowds" of Venice. It's a short walk or vaporetto ride from the train station and to Saint Mark's Square; so we didn't feel far from anything! Our room was large and comfortable. It looked newly...

Ca' San Giorgio was the perfect stay for me. It is an oasis of calm in a hectic Venice. The B&B itself is located in a quiet street, next to the Grand Canal. From the outside, the facade is the same as the other buildings in the street, but once inside you can see how tastefully it has been refurbished....

If you know what to expect form Venice accommodations, you will find out that San Giorgio offers you a very nice price/quality relation. Our host, Maria, was also very helpful and help us with very good tips about Venice.

All in all it was a super nice hotel. Very clean, the owners are so knowledgeable about the area. Their restaurant suggestions were fantastic and exactly what we like (i.e. not a tourist trap). The area where the hotel is is close to everything but far enough from the craziness of San Marco Square! The breakfast is so fresh and...

We stayed 4 nights at Ca San Giorgio and the hotel exceed our expactations! All staff (especially Maria) was very friendly, and always available with advice, directions, and recommendations. The hotel has a great location - 15 min walk to Rialto and 20-25 min to San Marco, but away from the tourist crowds. We had dinners at nearby restaurants with...

We spent four nights here in mid-December, and couldn't imagine having made a better choice. The accommodation and generous breakfast represents very good value for money. The situation, towards the top end of the Grand Canal, is quiet but near good restaurants and the all important vaporetto stops. The owners and staff speak good English and are very friendly and...

Do to fog our ship arrived about 12 hours late. We emailed them and received instructions for a late check in. Arriving at 9:00 pm, we were buzzed in and found are key as described. We stayed in the jr suite as the price was not much more than a regular room. Room was very nice with a small terrace....

The hotel staff is superhelpful and the rooms are very well equipped and quite big.The hotel is located in a zone close enough to the center, but it is in a really quite zone which make really easy to rest. The breakfast and possibility of enjoy coffee and tea during the whole day is a plus.

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.
