If you enjoy sleeping in a closet this place is fine. The air conditioning was broken and they did not care. The internet did not work and they did not care. The photo is deceiving . The location is very hard to find and first you have to stop at one location then go to another location to check in...

You threatened us with the Tripadvisor review to steal us 78,00 euros and you made it….well done!! To be fair i'd like to explain to all the honest customers and colleagues of Tripadvisor what happened: the customer booked a double economy room for 3 nights through booking.com,after the first night the customer complained about the size of the room telling...

Arrived in this maze of a city of the Rialto vaperetto station and stumbled right to the door. I can see how it can be tricky to find but what isn't in Venice? Staff at check in was very helpful and friendly. Cleaning staff were great too. Typical European size and comfortable. Right next to the Rialto bridge and a...

Although expensive, make sure that you take several days to explore Venice. Very close to Rialto Bridge. Try to travel light, we had fours weeks worth of luggage and after a trans-Atlantic flight via Rome it was a bit of an effort to walk from the Rialto boat taxi to the hotel. The check-in had to be done from another...

My boyfriend and I recently stayed here in August. We were upgraded to the Matilda room and enjoyed Venice very much because we had no issues with our stay. Check in is at a nearby location but it was not an issue. The rooms are newly remodeled, small but still inviting. A hotel representative can be reached 24/7.

1 minute from Rialto bridge. 5 minutes from saint marks square. You don't need the overpriced vaporetto ticket here. Just walk everywhere. Warning: if you weight more than 190 you won't fit in the shower. Room is clean enough. Walls a paper thin so you will here chatter but it seemed to quiet down after 11pm. Air conditioning does not...

Positive side - clean and cosy room near all main tourist facilities. Negative side - one of the hotel employees tried to double-charge my parents for the breakfasts' costs. He had all the information about our check-in payments, but told my non-English speaking parents that they have to pay extra 72 Euros for the breakfasts. Due to the lack of...

Management response:

I am happy that your parents have found the San Lio T. H. clean and convenient to get around Venice. I am very sorry for the inconvenience happened to your mother. It was my mistake that I did not realize that your parents had bought the breakfast as extra. Unfortunately, when your mother check out she did not advise me...

1 minute's walk from the Rialto Bridge and 5 minutes to San Mark's Square, makes this the perfect place to stay for siteseeing. We travelled from the airport by bus then vaporetto to the Rialto stop then back to the airport directly which meant less hassle with the luggage.Even with the map we struggled to find the Guest House but it...

Despite informing staff that it was our honeymoon and additionally being prepared to pay extra money for a nice room we were placed in a shoe box. It was disappointing that hotel staff did not make any attempt to warn us about the room size until we arrived. Despite this, the hotel was in a great location. We would be...

We had a lovely stay at the San Lio Tourist House. We couldn't have wished for a nicer room which was spacious and bright with a lovely ensuite. The location of the tourist house is excellent for all the big attractions such as St Marks square, the grande canale and the Rialto bridge. The staff were also very friendly and...

Although not the most luxurious of places it gave us a perfect location from which to explore the city of Venice. We were spending most of our time getting to know venice by day and by night and had planned to spend as little time as possible in our room and San Lio being 2 minutes from the Rialto and...

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
