We had a huge, clean, cheerful apartment over a canal, with king bed. We could hear the singing gondolieri go by! Venice is so small you can walk almost anywhere, but this residence is particularly well located, between Rialto and San Marco. It's on a...More
This hotel was everything we could have asked for during our stay. Located less than a ten minute walk from St. Mark's Square and the Rialto Bridge, this was perfectly centered for daily activities.
The suite was expansive with a large bathroom by European standards...More
We stayed three nights. There is a great wine bar, square and breakfast restaurant both stand up and sit down around the corner, 3 minutes from the hotel. Excellent location, very nice people. The unit was clean and well equipped. We had a very enjoyable...More
Still a very good place. It's clean, although it almost seemed like I could detect a very slight urine odor in one of the bathrooms. The rooms are nice sized. The owner is a very nice lady. And now there is a breakfast place across...More

The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and
Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.

The Vaporetto (water bus) run from just outside the train station to both the Railto and San Marco, costs €7.50/person each way and runs every 15 minutes or so. From the station, you can catch either the white (No.1) or Red (No.2) lines. There is a ticket booth near the pier and the vendors all speak perfect English.
The Rialto stop is slightly closer, and less busy - it's an easy, mostly flat 100-150 yard walk from there to the hotel following the directions from the hotel website.
The Vaporetto is easy and a great Venician experience!
