I chose to stay here based on the recommendations of trip advisor and was very disappointed. This hotel is almost impossible to find, especially if you arrive when it is dark - be sure to take a detailed map, not the one they send you...More

My partner and I booked this property based on the reviews we read here. We were certainly not disappointed. The location is ideal. It's a very short walk to St. Mark's Square, but it's far enough away that we didn't hear any noise from the...More
We stayed at Residence Corte Grimani for three nights and it was wonderful. The room was large enough for my husband and me along with our 15 year old son. The location is fantastic and the hotel is very clean. The best part, however, is...More
My partner and I have just returned from a wonderful long weekend in Venice. This smallish self catering hotel is fantastic for a very reasonable (by Venice standards) stay. Run by siblings, Donatella and Guido, my parents used to stay in the Bucintoro Hotel, which...More
The hotel is located on a quaint canal just a few minutes walk from Piazza San Marco. You can't find a better location. Our room was very spacious, immaculate and comfortable with newly renovated bathrooms. The hotel is not super-luxurious, but very nice and absolutely...More

The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and
Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.

The Vaporetto (water bus) run from just outside the train station to both the Railto and San Marco, costs €7.50/person each way and runs every 15 minutes or so. From the station, you can catch either the white (No.1) or Red (No.2) lines. There is a ticket booth near the pier and the vendors all speak perfect English.
The Rialto stop is slightly closer, and less busy - it's an easy, mostly flat 100-150 yard walk from there to the hotel following the directions from the hotel website.
The Vaporetto is easy and a great Venician experience!
