No wonder this place has won an award from Tripadvisor! Very central location, very friendly and helpful staff. It was a pleasure to stay here for a week and would surely come back. The rooms are well furnished, spacious and clean. I did not find it noisy the shops where one can pick up food and grocery are so close... More

We really enjoyed staying here. Great location just 5 mins from St Mark's and just round the corner from Bacino Orseolo Gondole, which added to our Venetian experience. We loved watching the gondolas pass below our balcony and hearing the gondaliers sing as they glided by ("Ciao Venezia" was annoyingly catchy). The rooms were large and clean but not convinced... On the spur of the moment, my wife and I along with my sister and her husband, planned a last minute trip from Firenze to Venezia, the night before we left we logged in to TA and started looking for a place to stay in Venezia and we chose Corte Grimani based on the reviews we read. Let me tell... More

Excellent location between San Marco Square and Rialto. Apartment was reasonable size - lounge with sofabed and kitchenette, bedroom and bathroom. Owners were very helpful with advice about restaurants etc. Rooms were clean and comfortable. As floors were not carpeted the noise from upstairs was slightly annoying but apart from that I have no complaints.

The apartment was clean and spacious. The bed was comfortable. The kitchen lacked sufficient utensils to make or eat anything and we were told that for €50 we could get access to more dishes. The location of the hotel is ideal and is a short walk to the Rialto in one direction and the same distance to St Marks square... More

This was our second stay at Corte Grimani. The room was gorgeous: spacious, comfortable and beautifully appointed. The very special character of this hotel lies in its staff - notably Donatella and Guido who have run the hotel since its inception. They spare no effort in making guests feel at home. Despite being only a few steps away from St.... More

We stayed in a 2 bedroom/2 bathroom apartment. It was so big which is unusual in Europe. We loved the view of the canal from the window and could often hear the lovely Italy Piano accordian players on the Gondola's paddling by. The streets around this area are a maze, so it is worthwhile organising a map to find your... More

Great location. Do not go with Google maps, that does not take into consideration the bridges. We took the water taxi and as the hotel is on a canal, it was directly to the hotel door. The hotel is an apartment hotel, located between RIALTO and SAN MARCO, close to food shops (Piazza San Luca), so many times we had... More

We stayed in the Residence Corte Grimani for 2 nights before our cruise. The location was fantastic - close to St Mark's Square, restaurants and stores. One of the canals used by the gondolas goes right next to the residence. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The accommodations were very nice and the rooms much larger than I had... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
