This was our second stay at Corte Grimani. The room was gorgeous: spacious, comfortable and beautifully appointed. The very special character of this hotel lies in its staff - notably Donatella and Guido who have run the hotel since its inception. They spare no effort...More
We stayed in a 2 bedroom/2 bathroom apartment. It was so big which is unusual in Europe. We loved the view of the canal from the window and could often hear the lovely Italy Piano accordian players on the Gondola's paddling by. The streets around...More

Great location. Do not go with Google maps, that does not take into consideration the bridges. We took the water taxi and as the hotel is on a canal, it was directly to the hotel door.

We stayed in the Residence Corte Grimani for 2 nights before our cruise. The location was fantastic - close to St Mark's Square, restaurants and stores. One of the canals used by the gondolas goes right next to the residence. The staff was very friendly...More

The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and
Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.

The Vaporetto (water bus) run from just outside the train station to both the Railto and San Marco, costs €7.50/person each way and runs every 15 minutes or so. From the station, you can catch either the white (No.1) or Red (No.2) lines. There is a ticket booth near the pier and the vendors all speak perfect English.
The Rialto stop is slightly closer, and less busy - it's an easy, mostly flat 100-150 yard walk from there to the hotel following the directions from the hotel website.
The Vaporetto is easy and a great Venician experience!
