Our stay in Relais Venezia was pleasant and the staff were lovely and helpful. The room was neat and tidy with good airconditioning. The breakfast was average but no different to anywhere else in Italy. We stayed on the 3rd floor which was no problem...More
Stayed here for three days as part of our family holiday this year. Would recommend as a lovely hotel. Good location very close to both Rialto bridge and Piazza San Marco. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. Very comfortable rooms with plenty of space for...More
Staff was excellent, very friendly and attentive.
Our room, right off the lobby, worked quite well for the three of us.
NOTE: the elevator only goes from ground floor to 1st floor (2nd floor for us Americans) and there are rooms at higher levels which...More
A cute little hotel in a great location, just a few mins either way to St Marks or Rialto. Most of the staff were really friendly and helpful, Darius in particular who gave us some great tips for a walking tour that covers the big...More

Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a
strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.

We were a party of 4 that arrived at the hotel about 0830. The hotel were advised at booking of our arrival time. Unfortunately we had to leave our luggage in the lobby unattended for 4 hours as we were told that we could not leave it in reception as this area doubles up as the breakfast area. We were unhappy and worried about this but had no other option so we took our valuables with us and returned a few hours later. Not ideal. You may have more luck if you are just a party of 2. No problem however with the afternoon departure leaving the luggage with reception.
