Lovely central hotel near to San Marco. Situated near to shops, bars and restaurants. Staff were very nice and welcoming. Room was tasteful with a small clean bathroom. Breakfast was continental, there was reasonable choice. Coffee was great. Really enjoyed our stay. Would definetly go back.

A great hotel in a great location. The Relais Venezia is a really charming little place situated about a 3 minute walk from st marks square and a 5 minute walk from the Rialto. The staff in the hotel are very friendly and helpful, giving you clear directions to the top tourist attractions. We stayed in one of the top...

In Venice for a wedding with parents. Staff were great with our lost flight luggage, knowing who to call and chase. Rooms are nice in an original building tastefully respected and renovated. Clear 2 years older than last stay, but both myself and my parents enjoyed the rooms, breakfast and location! Great aircon in the July heat!

Lovely and sincerely warm welcome from a senior member of the hotel. He spent time explaining us Venice, where to go, what to see, etc.... Lovely person. Very nice young lady as well taking care of the breakfast. Unfortunately very disappointed by the other staff in his late 40s. At first, very courteous...over courteous, sugary, but in reality showed an...

Perfect location, short walk to St Marks Square yet is tucked away from foot traffic. Plenty of shops, restaurants, bars close by. We were located on the first floor, room has all you need and a quick call to reception should you require additional items. We were kindly offered an upgrade but chose to decline since the first floor was...

After a trip around Italy our final destination was Venice. We had no problem at all to find the hotel due to his excellent location to the center, we were greeted by a gentlemen in the reception who explained us a few things about the city and after personally escorted us to our room, the room was nice, modern and...

We stayed 4 nights in this hotel. It is just a few minutes walk from St Marks but is a little haven of peace (we were on the third floor). The staff are extremely helpful - listen patiently to the guy who looks a bit like Groucho Marx (or Albert Einstein?). We followed his walking tour and restaurant tips and...

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
