Of the 6 hotels we stayed in during our trip to Italy, this was our favorite. The rooms were gorgeous and sizeable and the staff was friendly but respected your privacy and we could come and go as we pleased. It was in a small hidden alley just of the main drag and we could walk here from the train...

The hotel is located near the train station (10 minutes walk) or you can take a vaporetto (bus stop near the hotel). Small but renovated rooms. The rooms have everything you need (safe, new toilets ...). Breakfast is served in a small room. Piazza San Marco 10 minutes to go. After checking out, you can leave things and walk around...

Good value for money, close to the waterboat stop, nice and quiet yet in a bustling area. Linen, some of the towels in particular, was a little scraggy (think they need to buy some new ones ) but everything was clean.

This is a small hotel located in an older building in the Cannaregio section of Venice. While the interiors are relatively modern (though simple), there is no elevator-- you have to go up a long flight of steps just to enter the hotel, which is on the 2nd and 3rd floors. Even though our room was right across from the...

I booked this place on the recommendation of a friend. Was glad i stayed here as the location is very good. Its located in a quiet narrow lane just 5 mins from the Ca D'oro vaporetto stop. All the attractions are also just 10 mins away. We got the ground floor room which was quite spacious and very clean. There...

We stayed there a week, in Feb 2011. The hotel is located at a 5 minutes walk from the Rialto bridge, and a few meters from the Strada Nuova "avenue", where you can find lots of shops of any kind, including general store, baker, butcher, pharmacy, bars, restaurants, clothes etc. Also located 50 mt away from the "Ca' d'Oro" waterbus...

This location has everything you need if you stay in Venice for a day or two: great location (you can easily reach San Marco square and Rialto bridge), friendly staff, nice clean rooms with comfortable beds, good breakfast ... everything for a decent price of 70 euro/night/room-2 adults.

We were surprised to discover how central this hotel was. Venice is an amazing city and this hotel added to our stay. It was great value and the staff were very welcoming. Barbara especially was very kind to us. I had a bad cold and they were very kind to me. The breakfast was filling and the coffee was good....

First impression: small alley, not very charming. But, when you go inside, you'll see a beautiful corridor, staircase and cute terrace. Upstairs there was a friendly lady who informed us about our room. She suggested to leave our luggage there because we arrived too early. Maybe helpful to know that if nobody is at the hotel, you have to go...

Stayed here for four nights - we were looking for a cheap place in a good location and this proved a good find. Very efficient communication by email before we booked: friendly and efficient service on check-ing in. We had a large room on the top floor (beware - there's no lift so if that's important for you, ask for...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
