We stayed here for 4 nights travelling around Italy. It was prefect for us only about a 10 min walk from train station and a great location we stayed in room 5 which was small but had everything we needed and a little window overlooking the canal. Breakfast was good not a lot of choice but enough to set up...

This is not really a hotel, it is a B&B. It has a near perfect location for Venice, Venice is a very hard place to navigate because it has no streets, only water ways. Thus, it is important to be centrally located, and near the public boat transportation hubs, all of which applies to the Dalla Mora. The proprietors speak...

Location was alright. Took about 15mins to walk from train station with luggages. The room was huge and clean, with canal just right down outside the windows, which was very exciting for someone visited Venice for the first time like me. Easy to walk to the main attractions or take waterbus. Breakfast was simple.

This basic hotel is centrally located in San Croce on a quiet canal away from the noise of the tourists and Grand Canal. It's a 5 minute walk to a waterbus stop, and everything in Venice is within a 30 min walk. The rooms in the main building have private bathrooms and a canal view. Those in the annex have...

This quaint BnB is a bit off the beaten track but is very quiet and you can walk to all the main attractions of Venice. It also has many quality eatery's nearby. But the best thing was the staff they were extremely helpful and saved us a fortune with their transportation advice. The room was basic but very clean. Can...

Chose Dalla Mora after staying in a more expensive hotel close by, last year. Booked early as guessed it is a popular choice. Dalla Mora is excellent. The staff are all friendly and helpful, rooms are a good size and spotlessly clean. Towels changed daily. Breakfast OK. Location is handy to access everything - bus and railway stations, vaporettos or...

Great little b&b for myself and my daughter on our recent trip to Venice. Excellent value for money, very clean, ideally situated and only a short walk from the airport bus. Helpful and friendly staff, lovely breakfast, a real gem of a place.

The location of this hotel is wonderful. Being on a budget we were excited to find a hotel for this price in an ideal location. Upon entering our room after check in it smelled like cigarette smoke, which bothers our sinuses. However, after airing out the room for a couple hours it went away and ended up not being an...

Location is great, rooms are decent, and the price is great compared to other hotels in Venice. The service is really great - our first room had ants show up from under our bed so the staff switched us out to a different room right away. They moved us from a shared bathroom to private bathroom without extra charges.

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.
