Nice friendly hotel in a great location close to the Grand Canal and St Mark's. Room a little dated but breakfast was good. Would stay here again. Hotel staff were very helpful and check-in was efficient.

We had a lovely stay here in December 2016. Hotel was quiet and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is a 3 minute walk from the Giglio ferry stop (last stop on the Orange line from the airport). It is 5 minutes from St Marks Square so the location is hard to fault.

Enjoyed my stay at the Hotel Dei Dragomanni - staff were friendly & helpful, the room was lovely & the breakfast was good. Was obviously happy to be given a free upgrade on arrival! It was a little tricky to access with luggage from any nearby water bus stop but that's par for the course in Venice. It was nice...

Stayed here from 2nd - 5th Dec 2016. The hotel has lovely old world charm with all modern amenities. Tucked away down a side street but very central for St. Mark's Square and the Accademia bridge. Our room (No. 2) was very comfortable with a large bathroom. Everything was immaculately clean. Staff were friendly and helpful and the selection of...

This hotel was a great find. The location is perfect. It's less than a 10 minute walk to San Marco Square and Rialto Bridge. The hotel is a couple minutes walk from the Giglio stop on the Line 1 Vaporetto. There are plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. As for the hotel itself, I couldn't fault it. We were in...

Service was excellent, breakfast was excellent, room was excellent. We will definitely stay here again. Easy access around Venice makes this a picturesque and easy-going area to stay in. The staff were very welcoming and helpful which makes the stay a lot more pleasurable!

This cosy little hotel is tucked away in a little side road 5 minutes away from San Marco's Square so the location is fantastic. The staff were very friendly and attentive, the hotel was clean and elegant, the breakfast was filling and delicious. It consisted of cereal, bread, pastries, cake, fruit, yoghurt and a mixed range of salami and cheese....

My room was spacious for a European boutique hotel as I booked a single but was put in a double. Bed was comfortable. Great TV with plenty of US UK news channels. It is noisy as you can hear people come through loudly if they speak in the hall while you are sleeping. The hotel bar is run by whoever is...

We stayed 3 nights in this hotel while visiting Venice. The location is a bit awkward to find but so is just about anything in Venice to this is just part of the adventure in the city. The reception was clean and contains an elevator that appeared to be nearly brand new. The room we paid for overlooked the grand...

We've just returned from our second stay at this hotel. We chose this one again as it's such a good location, within 5 minutes walk of St. Mark's square and also the nearest vaporetti stops. We had a deluxe room this time, which was very clean and spacious. Our only word of warning would be to request a lower floor...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
