This is a sweet little B&B that will not disappoint you. Clean and spacious, very walkable from St. Mark's, etc. with nearby markets and restaurants. The continental breakfast was good, and you know they make excellent coffee in Italy. Federica met us to let us in right when we arrived per her superb instructions, and was helpful with sightseeing ideas....

My partner and I spent 2 nights here. It was ideal for us. It's in a quiet location but close to the grand canal, transport, and only a 15 minute walk from St Marks Square - helped us escape the tourists. Although the room was small, it certainly had a Venetian feel to it. A basic breakfast was included every...

Great value for money if your on a budget. Rooms very clean, fresh sheets and towels, fridge, aircon. Lovely quiet area away from the hustle and bustle which is lovely after a full day. Excellent location two stops from Lido one way and in the opposite direction San Marco in walking distance. Suwan looked after everyone and kept everywhere clean...

This place is in a quite area of Venice very close by to Arsenale and Biennale. This part of the city is not crowded with tourists and it is really pleasant to walke back in the room after a busy day in the rush of the hot spots. Still with a nice walke is possible to reach S. Marco or...

This is a good budget option for Venice. We stayed here the last week in October for three nights. As other reviewers have noted, the rooms are comfortable and clean and the location is quiet yet just a short walk from the sights. It was so nice to return to this peaceful neighborhood after a long day of walking in...

A few days before arriving, Federica emailed to give us the details on how to get to the apartment from the Arsenale Vaporetto station.. Everything was very clear and we never got lost, which is easy in the labryrinth of Venetian streets. Suann prepared breakfast in the morning beginning with a Latte and hot croissants. She was great and we...

The service on arrival was good and then throughout the breakfast and rest of the stay excellent. The room was very nice and cleaned everyday. The aircon was not working but the fan was enough to keep cool. The location was perfect if you want to see the Bienalle, with both art venues each side of the residence with walking...

Rooms are well decorated and comfortable. Bathroom is modern and clean. Staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast is good. Room and breakfast are like in a 3-star hotel. Location is nice during the day, because there is a park and the ocean just around the corner. There are two restaurants around one corner and other two one block away. But...

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
