A stunning historical hotel in a busy, popular area but it is quiet. Comfortable luxury accommodation which won't disappoint. The location on the Grand Canal is perfect for water buses and taxis and with an amazing museum practically next door there is old world charm and character in the area. The breakfast room is incredible!

We stayed here 3 nights in May and really enjoyed it. Didn't spend that much time in the hotel because Venice is such a unique city, you want to spend every minute sightseeing or shopping. The fact that it is in an old villa has its good points and not-so-good points, as would any hotel that was not originally designed...

We arrived at the hotel late in the evening to find that we had been allocated a room in the loft area without a window! We complained the same night and the next day (after a delay) we were moved to a room that let light in through a court yard style window. This was the only room available and...

Not an awful lot to say really as we didn't spend much time in the hotel. We didn't eat there, we were going to but left it too late and found it to be fully booked. The hotel was really nice, just what you'd expect of a former palace. The buffet breakfast was better than l expected-not just the usual...

My wife and I had 4 nights here in August. The hotel is a 17th century Venetian Palace and a listed monument. The main lobby and public areas are inspiring and beautiful. Having breakfast in one of the palace rooms where doubtless many historical figures have sat is wonderful. The hotel has a superb terrace overlooking the Grand Canal opposite...

Just finished a four night stay. Fabulous hotel starting with a friendly and helpful staff. We had an enormous room overlooking the Grand Canal. While sparsely furnished, the look was in keeping with a former wealthy family in 16th century. Bed very comfortable. An enormous dressing and large marble bath with two sinks, bath tub and shower. A great morning...

We held our wedding lunch and evening celebration at Ca Sagredo in September 2013 and stayed for a week with our 2 year old son. It was perfect! Every single member of staff was very helpful, they were happy to make arrangements for every detail of the wedding celebration. The music room, where the reception was held, is beautiful and...

Lovely hotel on the Grand Canal! It is located just steps away from the water bus stop.....and minutes away from great shopping and lots of restaurants! We arrived in Venice early and our rooms were not ready. We had lunch at the hotel on the terrace on the Grand Canal. Not only was the view of the hustle and bustle...

This hotel would be 5 star on all of the attributes, our room was superb, but I had to mark it down because of one big factor. I needed to book transportation for a group of six travelers from Marco Polo Airport to the hotel. I e mailed the hotel before traveling and ask them how to go about this....

We spent four nights here on our first trip to Venice and decided to splurge. Yes it was expensive, But you are staying in a 16th Century Palace on the Grand Canal, adjacent to the Ca'd Oro. We had breathtaking views of the canal and an incredibly beautiful room. We did take the time to tour the hotel on our...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
