I must admit, that their description “how to reach their place” is really helpful and easy. From the airport take bus ACTV or ATVO (both for 8Euro) and it goes directly to the main station Piazzale Roma, where you take a waters (vaporetto in Italian) and got to stop Ca’ D’Oro. The check-in description was quite confusing, because there is...

Having arrived in Venice after staying in a terrible hotel in Florence I was really hoping for much better, Casa Fornaretto did not disappoint! Whilst our check-in was a little unusual (I had to call the hotel for instructions upon arrival), the receptionist was very pleasant and explained everything very clearly to us. For anyone thinking of visiting, the reception...

I stayed at Casa Fornaretto with a friend for a week end. Check in is at Palazzo Rosa (really close) and the Lady at the reception was very nice and helpful. the room was clean and big (we had a kettle in the room) and the bed was very comfortable! The walls and the door I have to admit aren't...

Casa Fornaretto is located nearby water bus stop Ca d'Oro and with the email instructions from the staff it was pretty easy to find the place. Late check in wasn't an issue, the room is comfortable and morning croissants were pleasant surprise :-)

We were looking forward to getting to Casa Fornaretto tonight but a huge suprise: we got a call today from Booking.com. They told us that Casa Fornaretto cancelled our booking today. We bought our room from Fornaretto 2 MONTHS ago! They told us from Booking that Fornaretto is sold out. That means that they have sold OUR room to another...

We were sent directions of how to get there from the airport which were excellent and easy to follow. We checked ourselves in without any difficulty using a pin number. The room was airy and clean. The bathroom was enormous and the bed was wonderful. No frills, no hassle. Go outside and turn right and you are a short walk...

We booked and prepaid for this room for one night after reading reviews here and the most recent reviews have it right: updated interior, clean, spacious, great management team. We contacted the hotel via our booking site a few times before heading to Italy and they replied within 24 hours answering our questions, a good indicator of their customer service....

Please dont look at the old reviews. Ignore the crappy photos on this page. The place sure does not have a grand entrance but the rooms themselves are very well refurbished and in great condition. The location is right in the centre of Ca 'dOro neighbourhood and it is literally 2 minutes walk from Rialto Bridge. There is free wifi...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
