Stayed here for one night, staff were very friendly, the apartment was big and cool. The bed was huge and fantastic, no fighting over space!! The only problem I found was couldn't work the air conditioning which would have been great at night and Venice in general is very echoy which meant it sounded like there was someone in our...

Nice apartment, not too far out from the touristy places. Lots of life around the surrounding area. Really good for the price! The man who gave us the key (it wasn't there when we arrived but no big deal, the actual reception is maybe a 5 minute walk) was really helpful and kind. I'd definitely come again to stay!

Not bad but nothing major. Location was very good near Rialto bridge and ferrie station : fondamente nove . T.v. did not work . No fridge and no microwave. Size of rooms was pretty good. Cleaning was poor.

i think the reviews here are outdated and so are the pictures. or maybe the rooms have been refurbished in the mean time...because we really had a good experience there! the room was very clean and the location is superb! you just have to know that the reception is in Palazzo Rosa, so go directly there!

This "hotel" was the worst in our 6 week trip around Europe, very hard to find, we had to go to another location to book in, then taken to the room. The entrance was a door in the wall, we were on the 3rd floor, no lift had to carry bags up three flights of stairs. The TV and 2...

The building is the most scariest thing I have seen, I was horrified when I walked into the reception area. I was just grateful I was staying in one of the other buildings. The only good thing about this hotel was the bathroom!

If you are expecting a hotel with a grand entrance and a bustling lobby, Casa Fornaretto is definately not your place. Finding it in Venice was quite a challenge, but definately worth it. Located in the heart of Venice, it is quite inconspicuous.

With only a 5 minute walk to the Rialto bridge, you can't beat the location. For the large size of the room, the amenities and the great location of the hotel, the price was a very good bargain. We also got a deal for a 4 night stay at the price for only 3 nights, but even without that deal,...

The main problem with this place (It is not a HOTEL) is that it is virtually impossible to find. There is no sign to sow it is a hotel - it is actually on the second floor of a building in a back alley. I was not allowed into this building as I was escorted to another building with rooms...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
