Located in a quiet residential area - easy walk coming from the airport water bus - home made goodies at breakfast and freshly carved (I watched her do it) parma ham (yum!) Free computer and internet access. The hotel combines the old and new beautifully, our room was comfortable, and the bathroom was big. The staff was personable and helpful,...

Excellent location beside canal and a lovely garden. Extremely friendly, cheerful staff who were generous with their time and advice. Great breakfast of fruit, yoghurt, breads, ham, cheese and eggs with delicious homemade cakes and tarts. Very clean, spacious room. This is a lovely 16 bedroom hotel near the student quarter (Dorsoduro area) of Venice. The staff are great and will give you as much help and advice as you need to get around Venice. Lovely room , if a little warm, with a really comfortable bed and great bathroom. Dodgy hairdryer but that's just me looking for a fault....

We decided to stay at San Sebastiano Garden Hotel based on the reviews from TripAdvisor. We too were pleased with the overall cleanliness and appearance of the hotel. I agree, the staff (especially the male night manager) were very friendly and extremely helpful. The location is good: 3 minute walk to the Vaporetto stop, 10 minutes to Gallerie Del'Academia and...

This hotel is quiet and has great service. The staff are super helpful. I had a deluxe room which was worth the extra £50 over three nights. It's a great location along a quiet hotel. Lovely for a romantic getaway. One tiny criticism breakfast was a tiny bit spartan

We stayed at the hotel on our honeymoon and San Sebastiano was exactly what we expected in Venice for the special romantic experience. The girl in the reception was very helpful and smiling. The atmosphere at the hotel is prestigious. Our room was spacious with antique furniture. If you're ready to pay extra money for the special atmosphere it will...

Stayed in this property for 3 nights. It was very near to the boat station. Setting is nice with ringing of church bells adding to the romance. Room was neat and clean, very spacy by European standards. Garden on the back is small but cute. Breakfast was very basic, not a lot of variety. No restaurant, so you eat out....

This was a small elegant hotel with a garden to eat breakfast in, the room was lovely, and we loved the location, using the water buses to get every where. The marble floors and antique furniture helped the relaxed atmosphere

We really enjoyed staying at the San Sebastiano hotel in Venice. The hotel was very clean with interesting decor. Our room was small, but adequate. The staff was very friendly and extremely helpful. We really liked the location in the Dorsadoro section of Venice, quiet and residential, away from the crowds.

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
