For a centrally located hotel within easy reach of the main sights this was very reasonably priced. The bedroom and bathroom were both a good size. It is true that there is no lift but even the second floor, where we stayed, wasn't a problem with hand luggage and on arrival a porter took the cases up to the room....

Stayed here 3 nights as part of Monogram tour. Charming small hotel, no elevator, leave your keys at the front desk when you go out. Fantastical light fixtures throughout, large Venetian chandelier over the bed. Lighting could have been brighter. Large new bathroom with a beautiful jacuzzi tub which was wonderful after a day of walking. Bed was more comfortable...

Great Location within easy walking distance to the Rialto Bridge and San Marco --- we loved our room ( # 102 ) - well appointed and large by European standards --- regardless of some negative reviews we found the staff to be friendly, welcoming and very helpful in suggesting places to eat ( and as a result we avoided tourist...

When we booked we tried to get this impossible balance of good hotel at a decent price in a central location. On arrival to Ca' Alvise it seemed like we had managed our little balance game pretty well. In Venice terms, it is decently priced (for Venice) and the room was big enough to swing a cat. The staff was...

Small hotel that is right off the canal. I have a CPAP machine and there were no plugs by the bed. Had to plug in at the desk and make a makeshift stand with my suitcase. Staff was ok...not very helpful

Stayed 4 days in Ca' Alvise on our 2 week tour of Italy. With three couples in our group, of course we always compare our rooms. All of the rooms had its own intricate personalities, but they were small and lack counters in American standards. There were so many things to see and do in Venice that the only time...

My partner booked us in for 2 nights here as a treat for my 30th birthday. What a disappointment. He thought we were getting a little luxury...our classic room was not as grand as the websites photos imply, there was a low ceiling for a start (with boxed in wooden beams) and the general feel of the room was not...

Stayed here for 3 days. Great breakfast. Beautiful rooms. Friendly and helpful staff. Right beside a canal for gondolas to take you and bags (saves the walk). Easy walking to St Marks Square. Safe in room easy to use. Shame there was no lift.

The hotel is 5 mnts walk from the water bus stop , the place is very classy so venice like style .. One of the downs is not having an elevator which means you have to carry your bags up the stairs because they don't always decide to help . The staff is helpful and the place is really clean,...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
