We booked at short notice and were very pleased to find we had been upgraded to a spacious platinum room. The hotel is placed very well for the central sites, but also for the more interesting bars and restaurants on Dorsoduro and Cannareggio. Service was polite and friendly, and the room well appointed and clean. Very good value.

My husband booked this hotel to celebrate a special birthday for myself as a surprise birthday present. Arrived early evening to find that the hotel had overbooked and we were moved to an adjacent hotel for the first night. To our delight we had a spectacular room, complete with balcony overlooking the canal and wasn’t put out in any way....

We had planned a romantic week for our 25th Wedding Anniversary to visit Venice and we booked this hotel on line with only the information given to go by. I carefully printed out map details from Google before we went and we found the hotel quite easily after a couple of wrong turns. It is in a very quiet location...

A friendly and welcoming hotel...the rooms have recently been renovated and have been done to a high standard. I travelled with 2 friends and we shared a family room. It had plenty of room and a great ensuite bathroom...even with a Jacuzzi! My only moan about the room was the lack of tea making facilities. Breakfast which was included was...

We've just returned from three nights and four days in one of the most beautiful cities in the world. We would recommend anybody who wishes to visit Venice to attempt to stay in the centre of everything - and this Hotel is certainly within 10 minutes walk of virtually everything you would possibly want to see, yet is set in...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
