Detailed Reviews
We had a very nice stay, the rooms were clean and very upscale. We had two rooms, both were nice, both were clean, the beds were very comfortable and wifi worked great. We did not watch any tv as we were on vacation, the breakfast was a la carte and Antonio was very profesional and dedicated. The breakfast was also very good. We chose the hotel because of the location, everything is within walking distance and we were able to park in front of the hotel. The hotel does not have parking of it's own. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone.

+1
The hotel is located in an old building that‘s been modernised in a very elegant, modern, full-of-light design. The rooms have a/c, tv, fridge, hairdryer and are functionally, yet elegantly designed. The breakfast was served according to a menu (Covid19-related) with countless options. The staff in the restaurant as well as at the reception was very kind & helpful and spoke quite a few languages. The location is practical with train/bus station and city centre in walking distance.
Upon arrival the floor in my room and bathroom was covered in strands of long black hair. But this was cleaned up instantly when I informed the rexeption.

On two occasions I stayed here. Both times the TV didn't seem to function but who comes to Italy to watch TV! The rooms don't have tea/coffee facilities and in one room there was no bedside table. The rooms could have done with a deep clean. That being said the staff are most helpful and efficient even allowing one to speak Italian. The breakfast choices are plentiful and the bar also offers toasted sandwiches. If arriving at Catania airport I would advise taking the Alibus (4 Euro) getting off at Stop 11 Corso Sicilia. The street is a bit run down and there is a lively red light area further down.

The hotel is clean and nicely furnished, both the public areas as well as the rooms. The staff is super helpful and also entertaining (e.g., Antonio at the bar) - we felt really welcome. The breakfast is great - they have a lot of choice, and the americano will wake you up even if you slept badly. I would definitely choose this hotel again when in town!
There are only two small downsides:
1. The street is quite loud, which is of course not the hotel's fault and you can always close your window.
2. The maximum water temperature in the shower is a single degree too cold for my taste, which they cannot change for some reason either.

Avoid this hotel at any rate!!
It is located in a shady area with shady people around. The public parking lot nearby appears dangerous.
The rooms are not well cleaned. There is dirt on the floor throughout the room. There are no drinking glasses in the room for water. There is only one towel for two people in a double room. Wifi did not work in the room. They fixed that by bringing a router to the room.
There are no other tv channels than Italian.
Worst thing, we came back at 10.30 pm to go to bed, and find air condition is not working and it is 28 degrees C in the room. Proposed solution by the hotel manager: you pack up all your luggage now and move to a small room on the ground floor that may be air conditioned. We spend the night sleepless, as our flight leaves early.
This hotel is a shame for Italian tourism. What a terrible conclusion to our Sicily vacation. Avoid this hotel at all cost.

I really wonder who gives 5 stars to this hotel… We booked a superior room for 3 nights and were given a room with such a horrible view that we refused to take it. The lady at reception claimed the hotel was fully booked but her colleague, Giacomo, who really wanted to help, showed us other rooms: one with a murphy bed (who needs a murphy bed in a hotel??) meaning no side lamps or any light in the bed area and one next to the elevator which we took reluctantly and ended up being constantly disturbed. The next day we asked to change rooms and he said that he would upgrade us. When we came back in the evening, no upgrade was implemented, and our bags were in a room with a murphy bed! We asked to move to the first room with the horrible view; we just wanted to rest. Except that there was some sort of annoying ventilation noise outside the room. In addition to this terrible experience, housekeeping is appalling. This is how the bed was made (see photos).
Thank you to Antonio for brightening up the breakfast room! You do save the hotel.

We stayed here as part of a Rick Steves tour in Sicily. That’s all I need to say for those familiar with Rick Steves tour company.
For those not familiar with Rick Steves’ tours, the hotel is an easy walk (often less than 10 minutes) to many tourist sites in Catania, for example the Piazza Duomo and Villa Bellini, as well as many excellent restaurants, and is only steps to Via Etnea, a major shopping boulevard for tourists.
The staff we interacted with were all polite, professional and, luckily for us since we do not speak a word of Italian, speak at least some English. Some employees - Antonio in the restaurant and the two front desk managers I talked with - speak fluent English.
The breakfast that is included is quite good. If one wishes, an American breakfast of scrambled eggs, bacon and toast is available as part of the self serve buffet. Cold cuts such as salami and cheese are available as well. There is a wide variety of fresh fruits, vegetables, and various pastries and breads. Of course, the coffee was very good: the Americano coffee always available hot from a thermos, or the espresso or cappuccino that are ordered individually. Antonio, the manager of the daily breakfast, is friendly, goes out of his way to accommodate special requests, and speaks English fluently. Only breakfast is served so one needs to get out and about for lunch and breakfast. There are plenty of good restaurants very close by. The small bar just off the hotel’s lobby has a “happy hour” daily from 7 to 9pm, with €5 cocktails.
The front desk managers are professional, polite, very competent, and speak fluent English (as well as at least several other languages). They care about their guests: the manager who called our room to inform us that the boat tour he helped us book the day before was canceled due to high winds, sounded as disappointed as we felt.
The little bar just off the lobby has a happy hour from 7 to 9pm, with €5 cocktails.
The one and only thing we didn’t enjoy was that the shower had no door. This meant the floor had to be mopped up after each shower. Our only conclusion is that this saves on the cost of glass doors. I’m joking. We know these open showers are trendy but I suppose we are too old to appreciate it.
We would happily stay there again: affordable with an unbeatable location. We miss our morning conversations with Antonio during breakfast.

Modern stylish hotel. The rooms were spacious and clean. 2 little negatives: one of the light switches in the room wasn’t working, but more bizarrely there was some kind of mesh that was used to cover up the window, which I think was to stop people looking in, but looked more like some junk dumped outside the window.
Breakfast was very good and well managed given Covid restrictions. A QR code on the table shows you the large variety available and the waiter brings it all out of the kitchen for you.

Nice old place.
We got the feeling that the bed sheet were already used before us, not changed for us.
We got a nice upgrade to room 212, for some reason, there was an electrical noise, between 31 and 33 decibels, depending where in the room.
Small shower, not 4 big persons.
Nice breakfast place.
One light didn't work in our room, many lights didn't work at the breakfast place!
Nice guy at the reception.
They save everywhere they can, the Ham was too old and tasted awfully bad. They replied that it depends on the quality they get......And how often they serve it again....
Not sur if the AC was working.
No water, no tea or coffee machine.

We didn't like: The room overlooks a very small internal patio, it feels like being in a well. The bathroom is large, however the shower area is too small with no door, meaning water all over the floor. There is no hook for the hand towel and it ends up next to the basin, or even better, on the floor! No shower cap nor glasses, essential items in a 4-star hotel. A kettle to make coffee or tea would be appreciated. The room and the bathroom are poorly lit and could be better cleaned. Ventilation noice heard on regular basis.
We liked: Comfortable bed and nice, helpful staff.

Hello, the bus you need to pickup is Alibus, and the nearest bus stop arriving from the airport is at the train station.
best regards.
As the hotel is smack dab in the centre of the city, there is a constant battle for parking. Having said that, we found it easy to find street parking all around the hotel but you have to be prepared to keep paying the meter. We didn't find this so intrusive actually as everything to see is within walking distance.
Another way to solve the problem is not to have a car in the city and rent one as required. There are lots of rental offices in the city for this purpose. In brief, fly in to Catania, take a bus or taxi into town, walk the city to see the sights and rent a car when you would like to.
This hotel is not near the beach. It is in the centre of Cantania.
"The hotel terrace bar is worth a visit . Just ask the reception staff anything , they are wonderful. "Read full review
