Check in was quick and easy. Great rooms, clean and spacious with a balcony. My room on the 4th floor had a wonderful view of Mt. Etna! Staff was extremely friendly and helpful and most spoke English. Breakfast was extremely large with something to please everyone.

Hotel is situated in a very good location however it definitely needs some refurbishment or at least the rooms and bathrooms on the 2nd floor definitely do. Breakfast was quite good for an Italian hotel.

Stayed here overnight on business. Check-in was easy and quick. Receptionist spoke very good English. Rooms were larger than I expected and was very pleased. Tv worked well and had a good selection of programming. Location was close to everything, we ate at a little restaurant that was right around the corner, that was recommended by the desk clerk. Typical...

The Excelsior in Catania is an older hotel that at one time was very nice, but has aged somewhat over the years. The rooms are reasonably large for a European hotel and the bed was comfortable. The TV was large and provided a wide range of programming, although only a few in English and one or two in German. Heating...

Hotel is a little old, rooms are quite spacious, bath could be a little better... Also the room was a little too dark and mosquitoes don't seem to mind the cool weather... It was in a good location, though a little far from city high points. The restaurant was quite good, as was the staff. We spent "Capodano" (New Year´s...

The hotel has definitely seen better days. The rooms are spacious and clean, but there was a problem with sewage odor in our bathroom. We had to keep windows open most of the time. In the summer that might be a problem, since there is a sticker in the window which says that guest should not open windows because of...

A very nice hotel, but very expensive! A Jim Beam and coke is $15.00! The breakfast was very good! The hotel is starting to show signs of neglect! I would probably stay here again! Plenty of shopping in the area outside the hotel! Rooms are pretty nice!

We stayed one night at the Excelsior and found that it did have a great location near the main shopping area of Catania. The hotel itself probably was once GRAND when it was new, and while the lobby is still very elegant, the room itself was a bit worn and very small. The breakfast was very nice and we enjoyed...

We stayed 4 nights in September 2012. Very well located in Catania. Large rooms with comfortable bed. Very clean. Breakfast were included: Lots of choice to choose from. Nice bar. My only negative comment would be that coffee in the morning buffet was instant coffee... But it was possible to ask waiter for espresso/ cappuchino (at no cost).

Efficient reception. Good sized bedroom with good A/C. Breakfast fantastic:great range of meat, cheese, fruit, pastries, juice and even sparkling wine to make your own Bucks Fizz. Bedroom was dated-peeling paint and poor lighting, but abundance of towels. Set dinners were average; fish on both evenings.
