The location of this Hotel is fantastic for visiting the City and the beds are very comfortable. However, very little soundproofing between rooms and shower heads need attention. Don’t come here if you enjoy interaction with staff. They ignore your very being and when you do engage with them, it’s an annoyance for them. Breakfast poor quality. I’m not sure how Italy grades it’s Hotels but 4 star this isn’t :)
We had problems with the bedding, heating and the shower door. The room had only one old blanket and pillows with disintegrated fill (see photo). They gave us extra blankets and new pillows but did not fix the thermostat or the leaking shower door. We were given extra towels to absorb the water floating from the shower stall. We moved to another hotel after two days
With the good, it has a nice location to Catania for tourist purposes. However, the rooms were tired. I stayed in two different rooms during a stop over with a tour group, once the TV did not work and the second time the TV was in and out. The interior of the hotel could use some new paint to cover the scuffs and scratches. Also, I stayed one night on the fourth floor...no windows but a skylight. Not bad for sleeping. The buffet is average, was hoping for better. The front desk people are pleasant but not friendly, which is OK. All being said, for the location you will not find a modern hotel, but places like this one. I would not have an issue staying here again if I were to visit Catania again.
Hidden away behind the main shopping area, this hotel is ideally located. Lots of shops, bars and tourist sights within easy reach. The staff were lovely, and the hotel was spotless - our room was lovely and really spacious, and had two little balconies which was really a plus. We only stayed one night because of flying home the following day, but we would definitely recommend it.
I visited the Il Principe Hotel the last week of September and the first of October 2022. I was attending ad event. I must say that the employees of the Hotel work hard and are, by and large, very curtious. The are two major issues with the hotel: Management is not attentive and the hotel is virtually impossible to communicate with in regards to reservations and issues that arise during the course of the stay. The manager Marco De Pinto was non responsive to registratio issues brought to his attention in writing. While his house cleaning staff work hard and are pleasant it is obvious that they lack appropriate oversight. My room had a filthy wooden floor that they refused to vacuum or mop. It was as if managemet and never reviewed or instructed staff on this element. Hallway carpet outside the rooms were also filthy and needed replacement. It appeared they had not been vacuumed for quite a period of time. The manager Marco De Pinto would sit in the lobby of the hotel as if being a guest and largely ignore activity occurring at the counter. They can do better.…
This is not a 4 star hotel. It is 3 stars at best. The beds are incredibly uncomfortable, the pillows are flat, and the sheets feel like she paper. The room was not dusted before we got here, the bathroom smells, and the sink is clogged. The kicker is that the remote is broken so we can't turn off the TV. Get an Airbnb.
Dear Marco, We would like to sincerely ‘Thank you for the wonderful time we had at your hotel. Your welcoming and friendly staff, beautiful accommodation, and great location helped make our stay memorable. We are especially thankful for your acknowledgment of our credit and trail of emails from our original booking a few years ago. We absolutely loved our stay at II Principe and our time in beautiful Catania. The memories of our fabulous stay with you we treasure. Thank you so much. Kindest regards Shaun and Annette Gorham.
My wife and I spent 3 nights here as part of a three centre visit to Sicily. The hotel has a great central location close to Catania’s Cathedral Square. Wi-fi is excellent. The reception staff, especially Roberta, were very helpful. We had good size room, with a large double bed, adequate wardrobe and drawer space for a short stay, an easy to use safe, a long table on which to put bags, suntan lotions etc, a TV with 3 or 4 “English” channels, and a small balcony. The bathroom had a shower over the (jacuzzi) bath, but the screen did a good job of keeping the floor dry. There were plenty of bath gels and shampoos and the towels were changed every day. Breakfast was average, with 3 juices, yoghurts, 3 cereals, pastries and coffee from a machine. It was good to see the staff cleared and wiped down tables as soon as guests left the breakfast room. It is unlikely that we shall return to Catania, but I would recommend this hotel to business people and to holidaymakers on a short city break.…
We stayed at Il Principe approximately 14 years ago. Since then, they acquired a second building and we stayed there with my family of 5. The staff are very helpful and accommodating to the needs of the guests. They will arrange whatever you need (reservations, taxi, etc). We were lucky enough to be there for a week and it was such a pleasure to have Roberta and her colleagues at reception. They were always so pleasant! The only improvement I would recommend is to have a bit more variety at breakfast. There was plenty of selection but it was always the same every day. This would only be relatable if you were staying for a longer time as we did. Also, we did not like the coffee from the machine. It would have been a nice touch to have it freshly made if possible. Other than that, everything else (water, air conditioning, cleaning and customer service) was top notch!…
Great service, great location. Well priced. We were very well received, and the few services we requested were executed with charm. Communication with staff was effective. Room spacious, lovely view from balcony.
