Besides, our location is also very convenient for exploring most of the island, since the main motorways are a couple of minutes away from our property(Taormina 45 min; Siracusa 30 min; Mount Etna 1h, Palermo 2h).A warm welcoming and a friendly hospitality, which are typical values of our tradition and culture, combined with an exquisite tranquility, are the essential features of our Property.
What a magical place! We so enjoyed our stay in one of Sicily’s most magical estates! Our host Giovanna is so sweet! The rooms were so comfortable and clean! It was so pleasant to walk the grounds and learn about the history! This would make the best place for a wedding or family retreat! We will definitely be going back here many times!

What a gem this place is. We stayed here the night before we were flying back to the UK due to it being close to Catania airport. The room was spotless and modern, with double glazing, aircon, flatscreen TV, new bathroom and a comfy bed. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained, the swimming pool is superb. I wish we had booked a longer stay, if we return to Sicily we will definitely stay here. The host is such a wonderful gentleman, it’s worth staying here just to meet him. Nothing was too much trouble for Giuseppe and he was so welcoming. I cannot recommend this place enough and hope to return again soon.

I leave Castello D’Urso with a mixed review. The gentleman, who appears to own the place, is very kind. I rate his kindness a 5. Now for the rest....I can put aside being ripped off by a taxi driver ($30 for a 1.5 mile ride) who would not agree to a price in advance, who insisted he used a meter and who made us pay cash despite promoting credit card acceptance saying his credit card machine was broken - pictures of that taxi and driver included. But that, along with driving by a lot of disgusting garbage piles along the road, soured our arrival. We just needed a room, close to the airport, due to an early morning flight so we found it online and booked it. Trying to communicate with them in advance was unproductive. Upon our arrival, we discovered no one spoke English so that was probably the problem. There is no where to walk to buy anything so we were thankful when the sweet “owner” said he could call a chef to make us a dinner for two, without alcohol, for about $50. We asked for 6pm. He agreed, but then kept moving the time back. We ate at 7:15. The meal was a rip off with very thin strips of chicken, sliced tomatoes, cheese, cheap deli meat and bread. I think “chef” meant someone he was able to quickly round up. After midnight the water stopped on the entire property. This meant no flushing toilets, brushing teeth or showering before embarking on 28 hours of traveling back home. Breakfast was yogurt and packaged snacks that are left our 24/7. The nice gentleman supposedly arranged for a taxi the night before, but at 7am no one at all was around the property and no taxi waiting at the gate. Yikes! Finally, we saw the gentleman “owner” walking so we shouted to him and ran over. He thought it was 6am not 7, oops. He then called for a taxi which arrived. Thankfully, on this ride, the sweet owner got in the taxi with us and rode back to the airport - not sure why, but I assume getting ripped off by taxi drivers is common in that area. Despite the barking dog/s and barbed wire, I felt safe staying there. I probably shouldn’t have, but I actually did. The grounds were lovely and the outside of the castle, which you can only look at and not enter, was gorgeous. The room was clean and the bed large and comfortable. Unlike the indoor plumbing, the wi-if actually worked, and for that we were thankful.....but we won’t be returning to this property for the reasons above, despite the gentleman’s kindness. …

After a very long flight from the US to Cantania, we were so glad to arrive at Castello D'Urso Somma. Being greeted by Giuseppe felt like arriving at a friend's home -- if that home was a castle! A beautiful dinner was prepared for us and then we had a wonderful sleep to counter the jet lag. The location relative to the airport was a big factor in choosing this B & B so we didn't expect such beauty, comfort and gracious hospitality. A fantastic place to stay.

The people behind this gem of a B&B really take care of their guests! We arrived late, but they managed to create a wonderful dinner for us anyway. They gave us a tour of the beautiful castle. They helped with a credit card issue - always in the most friendly manner. And they found our phone charger and kept it for us to pick up later. These are just some of the examples of the kind of service you get here. Add to this that it is very much more convenient to drive here than to any place inside Catania - and that the rooms are also excellent. What more to add? Don't hesitate to book here:)

This is a little off the beaten path, but convenient to the airport & town of Catania. It is a family owned Castello set among old orange groves, & beautifully maintained. An oasis of peace if you’ve been traveling & a good base. But I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the kindness & genuine hospitality of the hosts, Giuseppe & Santuzza, assisted by Georgina, Salvo, & others. I arrived in the evening after a very long flight from Canada & another to Catania. Giuseppe & Santuzza arranged everything from a driver at the airport to a wonderful meal of fresh cheeses, salad, & house wine that I enjoyed by candlelight in the courtyard. I admit I was a little apprehensive about traveling alone to Sicily, but having received such a warm welcome it was like coming home to old friends. I commend them for their excellence in every respect & willingness to assist in every way. I will stay again: Sicily is beautiful, historic, & the people extraordinary. Thank you Giuseppe & Santuzza!…

We stayed our last night at this B&B as it is only 8-9 minutes away from the airport. The property itself is fantastic, with nice rooms and a huge swimming pool in the middle of a park. The area around is not that nice, but you have some great beaches and restaurants a few minutes away by car. Breakfast is self-serve, but offered typical continental choices. The hostess was very kind, and was fluent in English.

The Castello was our introduction to Sicily after we arrved at Catania and we could not have had a better one. It was well located and a haven of relaxed charm and friendliness. Santuzza and her father, Guieseppe, were the perfect hosts and we were looked after extremely well. We even had dinner there - which was one of best had during our stay in Sicily. Rooms were a good size, beds comfortable and the breakfast set up worked very well too. And the setting - lovely gardens and an Olympic size swimming pool which after a hot, hot day was much needed. It is well positioned to travel North to Catania or Mount Etna or South to Syracuse/Ortigia or Noto etc. We couldn't recommend it enough. Simon & Fiona, London

This hotel is the perfect location to visit Catane, in the pedestrian main street you can find most of the best restaurants and bars around. The hotel is confortable, clean, nice breakfast and the staff in welcoming. I recommend this hotel if you plan to stay in Catane :)

We were looking for a place near the Catania airport which would not be as pricey and supercilious as the Int. Airport hotel. Stumbled into this through Expedia. It is a real Sicilian castle and the rooms are delightful in a separate little house facing the same courtyard (possibly used to be the servant's quarter). Fantastic setup, great rooms and bathrooms, breakfast room fully stocked and available all day. What more can one want, especially since we really miss, while in Europe, having coffee and tea in the room. The swimming pool is huge, parking is free, and everything is set within a huge garden estate. In fact getting here is like going into the countryside, yet we are 10 minutes from the airport without dealing with traffic. Must come back for longer!!!!
