Actually here we have a set of equations where the addition is problematic.
An hotel with limited space and facilities on the 4th floor of a building, with a courtyard where you can safely park, and almost excellent personel. The 20 rooms are over decorated theatrically mostly in terms of the renovated ceilings or divided spaces that are somehow uneasy and staged. The bathroom area is a partitioned cubicle with little space, bad shower surface which can be slippery, no hanging facilities in the bathroom as well as a handbar to grab in safety. Breakfast is timidly arrayed but not extensive. The unique character of the rooms and the hotel concentrated on a set of corridors can be consuming but it has freshness despite the small elevator (lift) and limited facilities,

It cost 30 euros to get to this hotel from the airport. Due to a flight mix up we only had two hours at the hotel so we used the time to shower since we had already paid for the night. When you arrive you must take the elevator to get to the reception area. It was definitely an older hotel with very basic accommodations. The overnight clerk was very helpful because he made us a cappuccino in the middle of the night and called a cab so we could return to the airport.

No middle ground with this hotel - things were either very good or very bad.

Location in general is very good as close to main Duomo area. However, the appearance from outside looks really bad and you need to buzz to be let in.

Staff - breakfast and morning staff were friendly and professional. Afternoon and evening tended to be ignorant and unfriendly.

Room - we were initially given a room at the end of a dimly lit corridor that had a broken air conditioner. From the heat (and smell) in the room in was broken for a while. When we pointed this out we were moved to a better room.

The air conditioning in our room worked well but was very loud.

The price is good. We paid €90 a night so good if on a budget and don’t have big expectations.

A 2.5 star rating would be more appropriate for our stay but you can’t do that so I rounded up to 3 star.

We had high expectations of this hotel but it just didn’t make the grade. In our ‘superior’ room , the furnishings were worn and looked unclean, the carpet was dirty but at least the bed linen appeared clean. The bathroom was large but a little grimy. We were unable to close the shower door properly so I’m unsure of the function of the lock on it - bizarre. The toilet paper dispenser was a nasty addition,
We had the misfortune of staying on a weekend . The noise level outside in the piazza on both nights was appalling. This is not the fault of the hotel but perhaps the ‘superior’ rooms should be facing the courtyard which might reduce the noise level.
For all this, the rooms were overpriced. If I had the misfortune of visiting Catania again I would not return to this hotel.

This place is a dump at least the room we got 302. The room smells of mold extremely bad and their is mold all over the bathroom. The flooring has been so wet it's coming up and is a trip Hazzard. Do not stay here, I have traveled on business for over 30 years and have never complained about where I stay. Actually I am very easy going and can settle for less but this is just too much. The management was no help at all, and has told us there is nothing they can do, we asked for a refund and they said no because we already paid on line (Beware). Also no minibar as advertised. I already have a headache from all the mold smell in the air. Very disappointed look somewhere else

High quality service!

Top location in the historic center of the city, just 5 minutes walk to the Duomo, in a quiet street. A lot of great restaurants around.

The last floor open air terrace is fantastic. You can have breakfast there but also good quality wine in the evening!

The rooms were newly renovated and very comfortable.

Free wifi within the hotel.

It was the perfect place to explore Catania.

I think the hotels had a makeover since past reviews. Our room was spotless and new beds etc .The roof terrace to eat was lovely but a nice continental breakfast provided inside if wet. Unfortunately one of our 3 nights had an angry couple but if no night person on charge little you can do. Hotel was very Central and near to lots of lovely restaurants with reasonable prices. The gentleman on reception very helpful arranged a taxi to take us to get our mandatory Covid tests before returning to UK Taxi waited for us to get our negative results excellent then took us back to hotel.Proof is put on your iPhone of test. On checkout the old machine only accepted credit cards mine was a debit card ie instant bank payment after a bit we sorted it out.I had just bought a coat in Coin and payment was instant.

Really nice room, with painted ceiling, comfortable bed. Very clean, well equipped. All the staff were extremly kind, smiling and helpful. The breakfast was a feast. You can eat it on the roof terrace, which has a view on a hanging garden and the Etna.
Wish we would stay here for a month!
They recommended a nearby restaurant, which served very good sicilian food. (Street54)
Parking in the courtyard is comfortable.
You stay in the very middle of the city, perfect for a city tour.

My review based on our 3. floor room. I can't imagine to stay in this room in summer because room is very small and air condition blow the air directly to the bad. Room need renovation. Location is very good but toilet didn't flash, end of the story!

Lovely hotel in an 18th-century palace. Basic but clean and cosy rooms. Everyone of the staff was as friendly and nice as could be. Special mention for the lady who was responsible for the breakfast: although clearly very busy she did everything with a smile and a kind word for everyone.

We didn´t have a car, so I don´t know. But having seen the amount of cars in the streets and the squares around the hotel I suspect there might problems to fins a parking space. Maybe the reception can give you some useful advice?

It is not the most accessible hotel for a wheel chair user. Although the bedrooms are lovely there are steps leading to the restaurant and the lift is very small.
