We chose Grand Hotel Piazza Borsa because of the location in the center of the “tourist” Palermo. You walk one block, and you are on the Via Vittorio Emanuele, the main street running past most of the big tourist attractions.

Situated a little way back for the madness of Palermo's main streets this Grand Dame has much to commend it. It's a short walking distract from the main restaurant area and pleasant walk to the cities main sites.

as far as I recall this hotel is inside ZTL so private cars without special permits can not enter the area. If you are renting a car then contact the hotel and they will advise re parking options and permits to enter the area. We parked the rental car outside of ZTL on the street (for free) and then took a taxi to the hotel, we had car for just 2 days in Palermo to do some day trips. The taxi fare was not much more than parking inside ZTL and paying for the permit (daily?) plus for parking itself.
