Hotel Politeama garners praise for its stylish atmosphere and prime location, making it an excellent base for city exploration according to guests. Many appreciate the spacious, clean rooms and commend the friendly staff and excellent breakfast. While the rooftop bar offers scenic views, some guests have called out the overpriced items and compact bathrooms. Despite occasional inconsistency at the front desk and noise complaints, the modern amenities and attentive service often lead to a positive stay for travelers.

Central location places you in a beautiful walkable center. Adjacent to a major city square, you can easily reach city sites as well as stores highlighting major Italian designers. Hotel staff is capable, friendly, and ready to offer local tips (e.g. when we were challenged with parking during the Christmas holiday).
Rooms are clean, bright, spacious, and quiet. Plenty of room for the three of us. The bathroom offered a comfortable shower that kept the floor dry despite the three of us testing its full use (unlike a few other European hotels). We slept easily despite a lively party on the ground floor and traffic down below.
Recommend planning ahead if you bring a car. It was a challenge navigating due to the holidays and some roads are limited to those with special passes. The hotel offers garage parking but advised us against it due to unpredictable holiday scheduling. We had no issue with on street parking after following their recommendations.

Excellent: I stay often in this hotel and every time I find excellence and quality. Central location, beautiful view from the rooms directly on the theater, always very kind and helpful staff, the quality of food at breakfast is extraordinary for freshness and variety, comfortable and modern rooms. Hotel Politeama is a modern, relatively plain and clean hotel; you might consider it as a business type hotel. We stayed in May 2022 in a deluxe room on the 8th floor with a balcony overlooking the Teatro Politeama. At night, traffic is limited in this area and we felt there was little noise at night. The hotel is on the edge of the main part of the city, thus appeared not prone to late night revellers. It is very walkable to most of the areas of interest, around 10 minutes to the Teatro Massimo in the centre.

The room had a comfortable 160 cm double bed, all the standard facilities and amenities including a paying mini bar with a limited range of drinks and snacks. The bathroom was reasonably spacious with a rainfall shower, although there was nowhere to put your toiletries in the shower cubicle.

The offering at breakfast was substantial with a wide variety of meats, cheeses, pastries, cakes, cereals, yoghurt and fruit. There was also hot scrambled egg and sausage and good coffee. We found the staff very helpful and attentive. It’s not a big room so was very busy at certain times of the morning.

The airport shuttle coach runs every half hour and is comfortable, air-conditioned and stops literally right outside the hotel. At the time we visited the cost was €6 per person each way. About 10 minutes before the coach arrives someone turns up outside the hotel to sell/check tickets. If you are planning to use the service at a busy time it would be best to prebook your tickets with a specified time as without this there may not be enough space on board. You can do this online or in person. We only used the service to return to the airport.

All in all we’d recommend this hotel.

Stayed here for 4 nights with my Mum and we really enjoyed ourselves. The staff were so lovely and welcoming and told us all the best places to go. We had just got to our room and there was a knock at the door and we were given Cannoli and prosecco.
The hotel is very clean - we had our temperature taken upon arrival and there was hand gel all over the hotel on every floor and upon entering the breakfast room.
Breakfast was lovely with the option of a cooked breakfast or continental with a great selection of meats/cheese/bread/cereal etc...
Our room was spacious and was kept spotlessly clean. We had a great view over the square. We had really hot weather while we were there so we’re very grateful for the air con in the room.
The Hotel Politeama is in a great location within easy walking distance of the shops & sights etc...
I would definitely recommend this hotel!

This hotel is well located and aesthetically looks great, the staff on the reception were very helpful and pleasant, they provided us with milk so we could make our tea in the morning. They do provide tea making facilities and coffee and tea is also provided but you will need to ask for some milk or buy or your own, there is also a mini bar with the usual overpriced contents, we used this to keep our milk fresh and our water chilled.

The rooms themselves are a good size and clean, the bed was comfortable. The bathroom facilities are also good, there was a bath with a fairly powerful shower. The one significant issue was the air conditioning, which no matter what temperature we turned it down to, the rooms temperature did no decrease and unfortunately this led to not much sleep being had.

The breakfast which is served from 7 -10 is very good, there is an extensive selection of food to choose from, they will also provide fresh coffee and tea if you require it. The breakfast staff were most helpful and friendly.

All in all apart from the unfortunate and for us significant sleeping issue, this was a great hotel. We have marked this Very Good as there is no good and average seems quite harsh, not the hotel's fault more Trip Advisers marking system.

The hotel is overrated. Don't know how they got such high ratings. The photos online are misleading as they show the theatre next door (which has beautiful architecture) and not the hotel itself. I'm assuming this is intentional to mislead potential guests.
When we arrived, there was no bellman which usually is no problem however one of our party was temporarily disabled with a broken ankle and nobody at the front desk ever offered to help on arrival and departure. The elevator (which was also tiny) is up a small flight of stairs so it was a struggle to get the luggage up and down. The furniture in the room and lobby were tattered and had holes and were all very worn and dated. The bed was hard and uncomfortable and the sheets were a low thread count and were scratchy too.
The shower is tiny and leaks all over the bathroom floor.
The air conditioning was anemic and it was too hot to sleep. They even brought up a fan that didn't help. Enginering was absolutely useless and said that was the best they could do. They couldn't even repair the room curtains so the light kept piercing in waking us up early even though it was extremely difficult to sleep with the heat anyway.
The front desk staff never made eye contact or greeted anyone.
The only positives were the breakfast and breakfast staff who were polite and accommodating as were the housekeeping staff. The hotel is also pretty centrally located which was convenient. It is also relatively quiet.
The gym was adequate for a hotel gym so one can maintain fitness while traveling.
The Skybar was nice and has a decent view.
Those were about the only positives.
We also had to pay for water bottles and the front desk never assisted with any transportation to and from airport or other local destinations and we had to do it ourselves. Also checkin was late and checkout was early and they were very strict about those times and were inflexible.
Overall experience was equivocal but we will not stay here again or recommend it as I'm sure there are plenty of other hotels in the area that are better.

Dear Mr Ronald, Thank you for your review. It is important for us to collect all the feedback from our guests, even the most critical ones, because we are sure that they can help us to improve the quality of our services and of your stay. We would like to assure you that all the staff are committed and give their best to ensure that guests leave satisfied, we are therefore sorry to read that your experience at this wonderful Hotel was not as satisfying and memorable as it is for other guests. I would like to respond to a few points that you have kindly highlighted: on our website you will find clearly arranged photos of the rooms, the Hotel's common areas, as well as photos of the surroundings, including the magnificent square and the theatre, as is done for all establishments, especially if it is the case to enhance an excellent location such as ours. Although unfortunately we did not have the bellboy at our disposal, upon arrival, both front desk colleagues came out to help you with your luggage and you kindly declined our help. When you complained about the air conditioning, the staff immediately offered to change your room, and again you declined. Despite being warned about the timetable, we freely allowed you to keep your room well after the scheduled check-out time. We are truly sorry that your stay was not up to the standard experienced by other guests. We therefore hope to welcome you back to the Hotel Politeama soon so that we can have a chance to change your mind about the aspects you highlighted negatively. Sincerely, Giulia Guest Relations Department, Hotel Politeama

Sleek modern hotel is an excellent location for walking to all historic sites.
We had a large room on the top floor, the Panorama Suite with a very large wrap around balcony overlooking the Politeama theater and square and with a view over rooftops to the sea. Immaculately clean and with excellent service.
Staff are attentive and helpful with suggestions for restaurants and touring.
Breakfast is served in a downstairs room that is light and bright despite not having windows. The buffet is plentiful and will satisfy those seeking American as well as European breakfasts.
There is a nice bar on the first floor as well as a rooftop bar but we didn't use either.
If coming from the airport, take the very comfortable bus which will drop you off directly across the street and cost around 5 euros versus a very expensive taxi.

Our experience at Hotel Politeama was wonderful. The reviews that I read on trip advisor were very accurate. We had an incredibly warm greeting , received information on things to see and a dinner reservation to a great restaurant. It is a wonderful location for walking around and seeing the sites.
The room was sound proof. I absolutely loved soaking in the bath tub! The breakfast was absolutely amazing. The gal serving coffee was really working hard and doing such a great job. Having Mimosa's was like the icing on the cake so to speak. You could squeeze fresh orange juice and add sparkling wine! There was also so much variety to enjoy. The fruit, pastries and warm breakfast items were very tasty! It was nice being able to trust the car park with parking & it was not very expensive!

Loved Hotel Politeama! It's centrally located looking over the Theatre and what seems to be the main square in the city. The staff were super friendly and helpful. There was even a small problem which they were so great in resolving- always nice to know when you can count on a hotel to resolve things well. The rooms were really nicely decorated and even had unique paintings in each of the rooms. I'd come back to Palermo just to stay here again!
