The best thing at this hotel was the breakfast. I didn't like that the coffee had to be ordered and the numerous staff didn't refill the food quickly. The kitchen staff were the nicest anyway. The reception and bar staff could be more friendly and attentive. The room was nice except the carpet. They didn't offer any discounts for heartists.
The hotel is located i the town center, 5 minutes walk from the shopping area. It is a new hotel, rooms are very fresh but extremely noisy. They are badly insulated from the stree noise, you hear cars all the time. We had booked for 3 nights and cancelled one night. The hotel takes care of your car and the parking. You just need to ask the reception. Staff at the reception very unpleasant.
Hotel Mercure Palermo Centro is located in the city center, within short distance from the airport shuttle bus stop. It is also in walking distance from most of the sightseeing places in Palermo. I had a very good room with a little balcony, with good insulation from outside noise. The bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom was very good. Only minus point for the room is that you cannot control room temperature from the room, you have to ask the reception to increase or lower the temperature. Breakfast was very good, and staff was helpful.
Enjoyed our stay here. Nice sized room and bathroom. Very clean. Good location. Lovely coffee and brilliant shower. Staff on reception somewhat uninterested. Although Bar and breakfast staff friendly. But the Housekeeping staff very friendly and welcoming and was the only person we actually seen smile our whole trip in Palermo. Which was lovely to see every morning as you wouldn’t see another smile the whole day. Would stay here again. Thank you!
My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Mercure in Palermo on a tour. The room was very spacious with a nice terrace. We enjoyed the breakfast with wonderful baked goods. The staff was exceptional! They went out of their way to find so many different restaurants for us to try, and suggested different things to do while we were in town.
This is a modern hotel with good size rooms and public areas. Linens above average. The breakfast is fair, at best and the hotel is not in a good area. I would not feel safe walking around the area at night Very few restaurants in the area, you have to walk 1/2 mile to get anything.
We stayed at this hotel two separate times during our stay in Sicily in April 2022. It's a lovely hotel. It's right in the middle of so many sights and felt safe. Our rooms were spacious and comfortable with big bathrooms. One of our rooms had a view of the hills and the other was street side. My mom's room had a huge balcony that we spent time on soaking up the sun and the sounds of the city. My main reason for writing this review to highlight the AMAZING care the staff provided to my mom and her friend. They caught COVID and were quarantined to this hotel. I was terrified leaving them in Sicily while I went home but the staff took such good care of them. They knew their room number and would ask how my mom was feeling when she called to order breakfast (which is a great breakfast by the way). They helped coordinate retesting. They reassured my mom and were always available to help. My mom and her friend were living off room service and would rave about how great the food and wine was. One employee in particular, Barbara, went above and beyond. She would stop by to see my mom and help her with whatever she needed, such as going to the supermarket to get medical supplies. They were stuck there over Easter and she even brought my mom a chocolate Easter bunny :) and she brought them flowers too and it really brightened their day. My mom and her friend both said she had such a pleasant personality and made them feel cared about and loved. I truly believe their great service actually helped my mom and her friend recover quicker. It was so reassuring knowing that they were in caring hands. We want to go back as soon as they can and will pick this hotel again. Thank you everyone who works there!…
My wife, son, and I stayed here at the start and at the end of our Gate 1 tour. The rooms were clean and easily accommodated the 3 of us. The buffet breakfast was delicious. And it was near some nice shops and restaurants. And it was a few blocks away from Teatro Massimo and a street market that we visited.
When you arrive with a lot of luggage and nobody moves a finger to help is a good welcome in any 4*... though the staff was helpful, the hotel parking is an extra 20 euros for a nearby underground car storage (you have to leave the keys and the car, don't plan to use your car until you leave, it's a tetris game in that parking). Rooms are clean without much decoration - pretty plain. Location wise, you can walk to the old town, but it's a decent walk. Next time either I'll stay closer to the old town or would take something nicer with a pool and a free parking a bit outside palermo.
This is a fabulous hotel. Fresh, modern, spacious, brilliant staff and a breakfast which is substantial with lots to choose from. It was so much better than I was expecting from others’ reviews. Palermo you were wonderful and Mercure you were a gem. Thank you.
