Impressive building from a bygone era. The room was small and stuffy because of too much furniture. Of course, no AC although it was hot outside, but also no open windows due to an abundance of mosquitoes. Good, fancy breakfast on the covered roof top. Staff was excellent.
The staff is awesome - so friendly, personable, welcoming, and eager to provide the best possible service. Alida at the front reception was amazing and contributed so much to our visit. She is a stellar ambassador with a great heart and radiant smile. Davide at the breakfast service was so friendly, attentive, welcoming and always remembered everything about us (what type of coffee we like, our room number). Salvo went out of his way to help however he could. Our day housekeeper, Angela, was so sweet. Without exception, the staff was fantastic. And even the Director, Gisella Catanzaro reached out. Great hotel, but the staff is what makes the Grand Hotel Wagner special!
Stayed at this hotel for 4 nights in January, 2023. Had an absolutely amazing experience from check-in to check-out. The staff was extremely courteous, the breakfast was sumptous. The rooms are very well appointed and the location is very convenient. We took the bus from the airport and it dropped us off at the Paleotoma Hotel stop which is 2 minute walk to the hotel. All key tourist attractions are within walking distance from the hotel.
Grand Hôtel Wagner was our base station in Palermo for four nights. The Staff is really dedicated and went out of their way to help and address all of our requests. The hotel offers great value in a historical neighborhood. So the hotel is at a walking distance to the old town. The decor is ornate with a lot of gold and marble. Not really my style but it has a hint of a grand and rich past that permeates the establishment. Wifi was an issue as the download capacity was sometimes below 0.5MBps. But early in the morning the Wifi works much better. We enjoyed the parking facility with the valet that helped us parking and getting the car somehow promptly (it can take up to 20 minutes). The breakfast is served on the fourth floor and is very good with lox, hummus, croissants 🥐 eggs, cornflakes and your choice of coffee. Service is exceptionally friendly. This is really the best value in Palermo but the hotel is past it’s prime. The rooms facing the street are noisy. Overall a great location, dedicated services and a great value!…
The Hotel was excellent from start to finish. Service in all areas was slick and proactive. The accommodation was excellent. Bathroom and linens of top quality. Breakfast was vast however, could be served in a brighter room. Honestly, can’t wait to return.
This is a beautiful hotel in the Old Town area of Palermo. It is in traditional style, but feels not at all dated - it is very impressive inside! We found all the staff to be so welcoming and helpful, in particular the staff on reception and the bartender, who was lovely and made great cocktails. The room was huge and the bed very comfy. It was also very clean and the housekeepers did a great job. The hotel was within a short walk of the Old Town and the main street with fun bars and restaurants on. The breakfast was also good (great scrambled eggs - a rarity in hotel buffets!) and coffee top notch. We would highly recommend this hotel and wouldn't hesitate to return when we visit Palermo again.
The hotel is really old. Rooms reflect that. Yes spacious, but not at all reflecting the write ups. Staff were very welcoming and nice but we didn't feel happy to stay so we moved to another hotel. Of course not everybody will feel the same way and it's not the first hotel we have checked in but left.
It’s a beautiful hotel in a not so beautiful town. The morning breakfast buffet was excellent. It’s close enough to walk to many attractions but be careful. This town was part of our tour but I can’t say I would ever go back on our own. It didn’t feel safe and there was garbage everywhere.
We have stayed in many hotels as we traveled throughout Italy. The accommodations were top notch! Staff very friendly & customer service oriented. Fernando at the bar was superior! Housekeeping outstanding! Breakfast was delicious! Plentiful! Room & bathroom was spacious. Highly recommend!
Hotel website says all rooms non smoking. Not so. Rooms Heavily permeated with stale cigarette smoke. Very unpleasant. Front desk say everyone smokes anyway and therefore won’t change room. I suggested they not advertise they are non smoking.
