The hotel is a converted monastery with huge corridors and massive public rooms. The location was convenient but still hills had to be climbed to get to the main street. Our room which overlooked the ocean was reasonable but impractically furnished. We could not leave the window open because of mosquitoes and midges. The bathroom, was small but the basin... More

The San Domenico has certainly seen its best years. I have rarely seen a palace/cloister hotel with such vast and historic lobby areas, but what a pity the coloring and the furniture are so outdated. I am not speaking of antiques but of the sitting areas: Sofas, easychairs, all at least 60 years old. When you sit down, it feels... More

San Domenico Palace A huge palace that has enjoyed many lives. Once a lavish residence, later a monastery and now a luxury resort. Great location perched near the edge of the cliff, the patio views include the Greco Theater and Mt Etna. An outstanding garden in the rear overlooking the pool is private and peaceful. The property is beautifully maintained... More

Very nice hotel on the place of the old monastery - smell of Middle Ages and Bourgeois Aristocrates. Convenient location. The benevolent staff. Cozy garden. But November is month of rains and off-season, when in rooms not rather warmly

Lovely hotel that was previously a monastery. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Service was terrific. We stayed in November which was quieter then their busy months, but we enjoyed that. Food at breakfast was plentiful and one of our best meals was in the hotel restaurant. Location is perfect to walking to shops and other restaurants. Would definitely stay here... More

We stayed for two weeks in early November. Have never stayed in a five star hotel in any country before so was expecting a lot. Negatives first - the smallest room we have EVER stayed in, in any hotel, ever. It was originally a monk's cell I suppose, but even so. The worst electric supply ever, in any hotel we... More

We stayed well out of peak season and our room was heavily discounted as a result I think. It also means that the hotel was extremely quiet, and but for a large conference of Canadians, would have been practically empty. That is not a reflection on the hotel - but there may be bargains in the shoulder months. The good:... More

I'm so happy to be returning to this amazing wonderful establishment again for the second time with my friends Mr. Ronald Coupland and Señor. Andres Moreno Cordoba . But this time I get to bring my girlfriend Debbie with me. As I had only had recently started a relationship with her on my last visit April 2015. All I've done... More

This hotel is huge, old, historical, and well placed in the city. There are many things to like about it, i'll tell you what we didn't like: it's so big that you can't get any personal service. For instance, it was raining one evening so we approached the front desk where about 7 people were working. Not one looked at... More

This grand hotel, a former monastery, has been one of the world's most spectacular hotels for many years. Don't miss its gardens. Wander through the cloisters. Make sure to extend your stay. There is no other place like it.
