Splendid gem of a hotel in a perfect sea-facing position yet within easy walking distance of the elegant town centre. Plenty of character, as you would expect from a property that has been in situ since the 1860's, and there is a good blend of contemporary and established decor throughout to give a unique boutique feel. Architecturally interesting too; the tiny reception is at the foot of a small ornamental tower located at the elbow of a road junction whilst most of the residential part of the hotel is then built into hillside tiers giving unobscured Mediterranean views. We were in the comfortable Garden Suite which felt very private and secluded tucked away at the base of the main building. We appreciated the ample sun terrace and also the smart, stylish and roomy lounge. No external noise at all so we slept like logs in a very comfortable bed within the compact bedroom. We would also endorse the rather special marble bathroom with its eye catching mosaic sunken bath - an all time first, although we tended to use the capacious shower. As suggested by the name, the suite overlooks the small but verdant garden with easy access to a crescent of double-size canopied sunloungers. A tiny swimming pool area is even lower down and must be quite wedged during high summer. We had a rather a trek for breakfast each morning across the garden and then up a sloping path to the side of the hotel before going up three floors in a lift, but it was well worth it. The panoramic rooftop restaurant is lovely, there's a commendable range of ever changing foodstuffs, and the service is brisk and attentive. Best part for me was the pastry stand; swoonsome connolis and on, a good day, droolworthy chocolate covered doughnuts. I've had withdrawal symptoms ever since. The staff in the hotel are all superb - the friendly and welcoming reception guys, the jolly manager, the efficient restaurant team, the diligent cleaners and the responsive valets. In terms of parking, our rental car was delivered and taken away immediately each day as a matter of urgency. In the evenings, it's a gentle walk into town past the communal gardens and within minutes you are falling over restaurants even before you get to the main Corso Umberto. A few years ago, we were stuck in a hotel up in the hills reliant on a minibus to get in and out, so it really is far better to be in the midst of the action. As you walk in to the town you'll pass the Carlotta Apartments which, just from looking at the lobby and cross-referring with the website, would certainly be our favoured option for a future stay. So, we highly recommend the Villa Carlotta - to the extent that we wouldn't even bother to look elsewhere when back in Taormina.…
Our experience of Villa Carlotta was amazing. Such a lovely old building and made so tastefully beautiful and luxurious inside. We had a perfect room, so comfortable and well laid out – and such style! Each and every member of the staff are truly warm, friendly people, genuinely devoted to making one's stay the best ever. The restaurant was amazing too. Wonderful food, and again, great staff taking care of our every whim. And the views of the Ionian Sea and Mount Etna - Wow!–simply breathtaking! Yet surprisingly it is just a short walk from Villa Carlotta into Taormina town centre. A really wonderful holiday!
We had a really lovely week in this wonderful hotel. We were welcomed by very friendly and helpful staff. Our beautiful room was spacious and extremely comfortable with a gorgeous sea view. Delicious breakfasts and dinners are served on the terrace. Villa Carlotta is in an ideal location, very convenient for the town and the beach. Thank you VC for making our stay so perfect.
We booked to stay here as a very last minute thing due to Covid-19 and the restrictions. We stayed for 7 nights from 28th September 2020. I have to say, we made a wonderful decision. All of the staff were so helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble from recommending restaurants (and booking them for us), to anything else we needed. The owners daughter came to see us on arrival and gave us a really helpful chat and made lots of useful recommendations as well. We would highly recommend this hotel to any couples wanting a luxurious hotel ideally located in Taormina. The restaurant was also fabulous (and their sister hotel restaurant as well)
When we left the focus was when we could return. Italian food is great - lunch was the next level. Beautiful looks, fabulous flavors and stunning views. To spoil us all we as a cocktail! This is a recommended stop on the island tour. Easy to park which for a town that can terrorize any driver is important. We enjoyed the roof terrace.
