Great for walkers
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travellers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
We stayed at this hotel for one night. Very kind staff, they guided us by telephone to reach the hotel by car (since it was in a pedestrian area, the navigator was unable to let us reach it). Very spacious and clean room with a huge bathroom (bathroom with window). We appreciated the biscuits found upon our arrival in the room. Little choice in the sweet breakfast, on the other hand the view offered by the breakfast room is very pleasant. We arrived by car, parking costs €45 per day.

This is a lovely little boutique hotel, well located within easy walking of most of Florence’s attractions.
Our room was spacious, although quite dark, with no outlook except the building opposite. The bed was very comfortable. The room was serviced only once daily, not twice a day as indicated on the website.
Breakfast was a good selection of mainly continental-style food, with limited hot options. The staff at breakfast were very disinterested on all the mornings we were there, which lets down the hotel’s reputation. Reception staff, on the other hand, were excellent.

A very special hotel - fantastic location and quirky rooms that are original so you appreciate you’re not in a corporate box room, without being style over substance. However the staff make the experience - incredibly helpful and courteous - from breakfast coffee to late night drink, nothing was too much trouble. Thanks for a really great stay!

I would like to share feedback regarding my stay at your hotel. Your profile indicates the availability of an international American breakfast also suitable for celiacs and people with food intolerances. However, in my experience, I did not find that these needs were actually met.
In particular, suffering from a dairy allergy, I noticed the absence of suitable alternatives: no plant-based yogurts were available, and the only plant-based milk option offered was soy. Nowadays, there are many other types of vegetable milk widely used and appreciated. In addition, there were no vegan croissants or other similar options, (cookies, pies, rice cakes , which today are increasingly in demand by a varied clientele and attentive to these needs.
I understand that guests often report special needs by text or call, and I personally do so frequently. However, when a hotel expressly states in its profile that it offers an inclusive service for food intolerances, I do not think it is necessary to give prior notice, as the customer expects that this service is always guaranteed. I hope this observation can be useful as a starting point to further improve the offer of your hotel. Being a four-star hotel, I believe that the ability to meet the needs of an increasingly diverse clientele can represent an important added value.

Unbeatable location, a stone's throw from the Duomo and a pleasant 10' walk to the Ponte Vechio. It is also 200 m from the tram that takes you to the airport for €1.70 in 22'. The super friendly staff, speaking Spanish, the beautiful and comfortable rooms and the breakfast without much variety but of very good quality. I would repeat without hesitation

Our time in Florence was all too short, but our lovely stay was made all the better for having chosen the Hotel L'Orologio. I would definitely opt to stay here again, should we return to Florence.
The staff and the accommodations were very comfortable, relaxing, and convenient. Our room's location, comfortable bedding, roomy layout and ample bath (including fog-free mirror, close up mirror, and a strong shower my husband really liked) were much enjoyed and appreciated by these weary travelers. The included breakfast was also very good and included many hot and cold offerings. Another nice aspect was the hotel's expansive, but very cozy lobby area that included a number of comfortable seating areas, plus a lovely fireplace area for guests to relax and unwind near.
The hotel's location is very convenient to the main tourist sights and attractions and only a 6 minute walk from the Florence S.M train station. Note: unless familiar with Florence (we weren't), I suggest studying map in advance of walk from train station, as our app maps directions as well as hotel website show address as #24, but actual entry is at #34.
A much-enjoyed, but too short stay!

We stayed in the family room for 3 nights. The family room is really two rooms each with a bathroom, very spacious. Beds very comfortable, pillows a bit soft for us. Room was excellent, the only improvement to suggest is some hooks to hang clothes on in the bathrooms. The closets in our room were very spacious. The breakfast is excellent and saves a lot of time in the morning. Service was first class overall. The sitting room with fireplace (behind the reception area) was very welcome after coming in from the cold. Very cozy room with comfy sofas. The location is great - short walk from the train/bus station and also short walks to many attractions and the shopping area. Many good restaurants nearby. I would stay here again.

This was our first time visiting Italy and after countless hours researching hotels, we decided on Hotel L'Orologio. It was a great decision. Â
The hotel is located far enough away from the main train station that you really don't get the big train crowd, yet close enough that it's a quick walk. The walk is under 10 minutes. Â
The room was really good, from the bed being extra comfy to the surround sound music within the room that you can turn off and on at your desire. It was so soothing we kept the music on the entire time and helped us sleep. The music was piano bar type music of famous songs. The bathroom amenities were just fine too. However, I should say if I'm picking one thing I'd improve on the room it was the shower. The water pressure was just fine, but the shower was a little tight in that we were always touching the shower curtain during the process, which felt kinda gross.  The tub just wasn't wide. Also, getting out of the tub after the shower could be an issue for those who aren't that flexible. It's quite a large step down to get out of the shower. We held onto the wall when we'd get out of the shower. Â
The morning breakfast overlooking the square was a nice added touch. It had your basic Italian breakfast items - eggs, bacon, yogurt, meats, cheeses, coffees, etc. We didn't utilize it as much as we should have, but the times we did it was spot on.
The staff was incredible, especially Vinny at the bar. As an American, I practiced as much Italian as I could so I can ask basic questions and speak basic stuff like asking for wine, a restroom, etc. He was patient and took the time to correct me and explain why things are said a certain way.
Lastly, I should note you need to leave your room key in a slot within the room to turn the lights off and on.
If I ever go back to Florence, I'd definitely stay here again and I highly recommend this hotel.

First trip to Florence - I booked four nights in the smallest and least expensive room at this hotel. I was traveling by myself and indeed the room was small (I wouldn't want two people in this room) but nicely furnished with a comfortable bed. Bathroom was proportionally larger, nicely done up and had a good hot water shower. Take care getting in and out of the shower as there is a two foot marble rim to navigate.
Hotel has watch theme (rooms named after famous watches and brands). Fun to wander around. There are a few public rooms off the lobby where you can sit and read or chat. Also a small fitness room in the basement which had the basics (weights, mats, one treadmill, one eliptical).
Location is fantastic - you can take tram from the airport to the final stop, then walk two-three minutes to the hotel.
Front desk staff very helpful answering all my questions (train schedules, dinner suggestions) and making calls to find me a pharmacy that could do Covid testing on a Sunday and holiday.
Breakfast room has a nice view of the square and church below. Breakfast decent but didn't change at all over the four days I was there so got a bit monotonous. Also the last two days of my stay were a holiday weekend and the small breakfast room would fill up meaning you'd have to wait a bit for a spot to clear. I ended up bailing when I encountered a line at the door on my final morning.
I suggest booking direct at the hotel's website. Rates were cheaper than what I saw on Expedia and other booking engines .. and also had more flexible cancellation policies. I recall there was some coupon code on their website to further encourage direct bookings.

Palatial room with 20 ft. Ceilings and a bed so hard you could eat dinner on it. One of the largest and grandest hotel rooms we’ve stayed in. That said the enormous bathroom featured a tub that so deep it was a struggle for me (5’3”) to get in and out of safely. The windows were swathed in red & gold balloon style drapes but the only way I could look out the window was to step up on a deep ledge (which I did not do because there was nothing to hang onto). Italy is famous for many things and rock hard mattresses is one I didn’t know about. Same for the pillows. Woke up with a stuff neck every night. Cleaning staff was great! Breakfast room was elegant but poorly lit. Eggs were so salty they were inedible. Don’t stay here for the food, it’s limited at best.

Dear Mrs. Pamela, We appreciate the time to review our Hotel. The Hotel is a XVI century building and you stayed on the noble floor, characterized by high ceilings and large windows overlooking Piazza Santa Maria Novella. We are sorry that you find the bathtub and the bed not comfortable. We have other deluxe rooms with view also with shower, if you had advised us during the stay we could have assigned a room more suitable to your needs. Many thanks for your nice world for the cleaning staff, the ambience of our breakfast room and the location of the hotel. Concerning the breakfast, the hotel was fully booked during your stay and we served the eggs to more than 100 Guests daily, if the eggs were too salty for you we would have been pleased to cook it separately. We try to give our best attention to all the Guests and if we receive special request we are really pleased to accomplish. With our best wishes, Silvia Battini Hotel Manager
