I had the pleasure of long term stay at Villa Medici (10 nights). Fabio and his team are world class! I arrived late due to flight delays and he was understanding and incredibly helpful. If you have the opportunity the 5th floor rooms with Terraces have incredible views. Absolutely perfect for a glass of wine with some cheese & prosciutto while you have sweeping views over the centre of Florence. The breakfast in Harry’s Bar ran by Simone and his team is the perfect start to long days of sightseeing. I am still dreaming about the fresh pastries every day. Do yourself a favour and stay at Villa Medici when your next in Florence.
From the moment you arrive at Sina Villa Medici in Florence, you feel transported to a place and time where service and hospitality are cherished. The only things warmer than the furnishings and decor are the wonderful hospitality professionals throughout the property. Each person we encounter knows us by name. if you are considering other properties in Florence, stop searching and book this property right away. The concierge team lead by Paolo is extraordinary. We have some dietary restrictions in our party. Not only did they recommend amazing restaurants, but you could tell that they took the time to share those dietary needs with the restaurant management. We arrived for dinner and the owner of the restaurant warmly greeted us and said that the Sina Villa Medici team had briefed him on our dietary needs and everything was in order. Those details matter. This property doesn't miss a trick. We were staying for a special wedding anniversary, and the management and staff have made us feel like royalty. I have seen them treat each guest with the same level of care and attention across the board. Enjoy Florence. Enjoy the Sina Villa Medici... and trust the concierge to ensure that you have the best experience during your visit in this amazing city.…
Pros: The exterior, restaurant, and lobby of the Villa Medici are very historical/classic and beautiful and feel like a 5 star hotel. For the ideal location and luxury feel of the common areas as well as the beautiful bar with a pianist, I would recommend this hotel. Our room was also beautiful and spacious for a room downtown in a large European city. Cons: However, as others have noted the Wifi speed would not be acceptable for business use. I would not recommend this hotel for business use for this reason. We were extremely hot in our room as others have also noted but it is not ideal to leave screen-less windows open all night. For a summer visit when the hotel’s air conditioning is on it would be better I think. While the bathroom was beautiful and luxurious, the shower half wall was falling off and it was impossible to shower without getting water all over the floor.…
I spend a lot of time in Marriott properties, and this one — objectively — is problematic. To be clear, the staff couldn’t have been nicer, and the public facilities are lovely. But this hotel suffers from two serious problems, and they are both related. The hotel’s air system is centrally controlled, which means if the hotel staff thinks it needs heat, you’re going to have heat everywhere. Your options are “on or off.” On an unseasonably warm Christmas week in Florence, when the heat is “on” despite temps in the 60s, that means you’re left with leaving balcony doors open. Lovely, right? Wrong. The hotel is uniquely situated against a small park where apparently inebriated locals like to hang out and scream at all hours of the night. They often have dogs which bark all night long. Even on a top floor of the hotel, there was no avoiding largely sleepless nights. Do you sweat and sleep with the doors closed, or do you enjoy cool air and screaming drunk people? Additionally, unlike sister properties the Westin Excelsior and St. Regis, the Sina Villa Medici is a few blocks the wrong way. That means walking to and from central locations may not be dicey, but certainly felt that way — especially when walking with younger family members. Again, the staff was attentive and the on-site food was excellent. But there is nothing staff can do about a hotel’s location, or —- apparently — the people who congregate outside. If you want a Marriott property, I would suggest the Westin or St. Regis, both are on the water. If you want quirky and probably more a “local” experience than you would anticipate, go with the Sina Villa Medici. The good news is you’ll be up all night to write about your experience.…
This is our second visit to the Hotel, we were here exactly 20 years ago. A lot has changed since then. The Hotel staff have been extremely friendly and helpful throughout our one week stay. The Hotel is nicely located right in the center of Florence, and there are plenty of things to do and see in and around Florence. The Restaurant is nice as well, perhaps a bit sparse with their Menu, only a small handful of dishes are available and if you stay a week at the Hotel, you would have quickly 'eaten' yourself through the Menu, as there is not much choice. But otherwise the Hotel is top, marred perhaps only by a small theft from our room on the last day. I foolishly left a few Euro on the top of my bedside table, and although they were hidden by some papers that I had put on top of them, they were gone by the time I was packing up. I did not say anything at the Reception and did not report the matter, as I did not wish to make a scene out of a small incident, as other than that, the stay was perfect.…
This hotel is beautiful, the staff is lovely and one of the best night sleeps I have had so far halfway through our trip. Beautiful green space and lovely back garden with beautiful pool. Harry’s Bar has a bar here which was perfect for a nightcap. Appears to be a true king size bed which was hard to find when we first started traveling in Europe in 2005. This is a beautiful, updated space and perfect for our stay in Firenze! We easily walked here from the Santa Maria Novella station.
We enjoyed staying at the hotel. Its in a good location, easy to get around. Rooms are spacious, very clean and pillows, mattresses of high standard and very comfortable. The staff are lovely, especially luca! All too happy to help and answer any questions. We are in the restaurant, lovely view looking at the pool, sadly freezing! Food was a huge disappointment! We did not enjoy it at all nor feel it matched the hotel standards. Thank you for a nice stay.
From the moment you enter you can notice that this is not an autograph collection! No Bellboy at the door, only a security man Looking at me and my preagnant Wife Taking the bags from the taxi and bringing them to the reception ( the gentleman was probably not hired to carry luggage but … Its a preagnant lady!) I thought It was something that happened at that moment but… for the all stay, i have never seen a bellboy at the door! The checkin was ok but i was not told Anything about what distinguished this autograph, i later saw It on the counter their “Mark”. Until today i Dont undestand Why the receptionist took a copy of our id and credit card without Asking for permission! Arriving to the room…. The smell of pipes was quite unpleasent during the all stay. Air filtres in the bathroom Where filthy. The wallpaper was in very bad condition! The bed looked made by a kid! No care of at least steatching the sheets. Dont go to the Gym!!! The machines are ok but the sauna and Turkish Bath smell bad. Fallen tiles and stains on the wall are absolutely discusting! There is no maintnence or care! The Breakfast was “funny” in the first 2 days. We where seated and we ordered some coffee and tea (that came at the end of the metal!) employees Where doing Everything but serving tables. The “best part” was the tea pot that came broken to the table, with a Piece of porcelain “flavoring” the water! The employees barely spoke English and the one that saw the pot, laughed and said Sorry! Regarding the bar, it is located on the meadle of 2 restaurants but there seems to be only one kitchen!!! You will see a circus of employees running through the bar, transporting dishes to serve guests. Wi-Fi has very slow speed in the room. Very poor quality! To end: The rooms need investment Housekeeping needs to be organized and trained Reception must be trained (needs “fresh blood”) Belboys should always be present hosting and assisting guests Maintenance department should be created or controlled The restaurants and bar… no words… Hotel has stopped in time! This hotel definitely needs someone ahead taking real care of the operations, training staff and urgently improving guest experience. The only Good part was the concierge Paolo. He was polite and knew is guests! I do not recomend this property until major renovations and staff training happens. Until then, stay at the westin! Its a pitty. The hotel has Huge potential!!!…
This hotel is an oasis in one of the loveliest cities in the world. The front desk staff and concierge desk are extremely friendly and helpful. Taxis in a minute. Our room and open aired balcony faced the elegant pool and fountain. Harry’s Bar was just downstairs. I have never taken so many photos of furnishings in my life. Absolutely great detail to decor - old and new and very , very appealing in every way. The restaurants just down the street were wonderful with delicious food and a local grocery available within a minute walk Thank you for a fabulous stay
Beautiful hotel in a quiet neighborhood near the Santa Maria Novella church and convenient access to the train station. Our room was quiet and beautiful. We had a view of the sunset every evening. Our king size bed (hard to find in Italy) was so comfortable. The lobby is spacious and comfortable and there is a beautiful garden and a swimming pool! We had some warm weather while we were staying there and cooled off in the pool! :-) We also relaxed by the pool and had a lovely lunch and also ate breakfast and dinner at the hotel's restaurant, Harry's Bar. The staff was warm, friendly and so helpful. The concierge staff made museum and restaurant reservations for us and answered my ongoing questions with grace and good humor. I would stay there again in a heartbeat. Grazie Mille!…
