The pros: great central location & very good breakfast cooked to order. Other: a very plain basic room (‘superior double’) without a dressing table or mirror, very uncomfortable bed (ancient mattress sagging towards middle), plain dull white walls & ceiling and unlined awful curtain. Bathroom was CERTAINLY NOT a ‘marble bathroom’! Window overlooking flat roofs & air con units- sad. Reception/bar/lobby all one, basic, empty, so nowhere other than bedroom to sit in the evening. On a side street with hotel name in neon light. 4 nights was 3 too many.
As a Trip Advisor level 47 hotel reviewer, I would say this hotel is tops. The room was great, WIFI was great with ability to upload our pictures to Dropbox. Breakfast had made to order omelets and a good selection. What made the trip extra special was how nice everyone was. So friendly and helpful. They provide valet parking. You drive up to the hotel and give them the keys and they will have the car back to you whenever you need it. We do stay there again.
My Florence home from home! The location of this hotel is unique, you step out, turn left and are faced with the unique spectacle of the Duomo in all its glory! Right in the centre of town, walking distance from the station. Quiet historical residence, great views of the Medici cupola from my favourite rooms windows! Staff are family, warm and welcoming. Would never go anywhere else when I am in town.
We had the best time staying at Relais Centrale in Firenze Italy. We stayed for 7 nights. The hotel is well maintained, bed was SUPER comfortable. People were so kind, caring and full of helpful suggestions. Will definitely look for this brand on future trips. I know they have hotels in several other killer destinations. The breakfast was by far the best we’ve had on our 3 week trek across Italy. Located 1/2 block from Santa Maria Nocelka Cattedrale, a short walk to the Uffizi, Accademia Gallery AND just a few extra minutes to get to the south side of Arno River to explore Piazzale Michelangelo, Pitti Palace and Piazza Santa Croce. Highly recommend!!
I have been staying at this hotel since 1994; in total about 29 times. Although there has been multiple owners over the decades, the hotel has always maintained a "pensione" quality to it, with excellent staff and wonderful breakfast offerings. Because of this, I have advised hundreds of my colleagues, friends and family to stay at this hotel since 1994. Despite collecting points from chain hotels, I give up the opp to collect points only when I am in Florence, just because I really enjoyed this hotel. Something changed with the new owners from the last time I was in Florence 2019. In March 2022, I had five days of meetings and was looking forward to Florence. The five days I stayed at this hotel were the worse hotel experience I have ever had in Italy or around the world. The hotel now has mediocre staff. The breakfast offerings were mediocre; terrible coffee, the bread was old and the eggs were blackened with what appeared to be soot from the skillet. The bacon still had cartilage attached and tasted awful. The house cleaning staff did not listen to my request to not enter my room for any reason (even after confirming 3 times that they understood), entered. Given we are still in a pandemic, I would expect hotels to listen to clients when they ask them not to enter rooms. I did not appreciate my stuff being touched by staff. I will no longer recommend this hotel or stay while I am in Florence. This year alone, I have three meeting in Florence and I have 16 colleagues attending these meeting as well, and I have 9 family members visiting Florence this summer. I am now in search of a new "pensione" like hotel…
Great Hotel in an awesome location . Very close to Duomo . And central to wherever you want to go . Very near the train station. In a quiet side street . Easy access . Hotel was well equipped and the stuff were friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean and well set up . Breakfast buffet was good .
Just behind basilica San Lorenzo ,3 minutes walk from the Dumo or piazza de la republica and close enough to train station S.M.N. As you understand this hotel has great location but also on a small street so you have enough quiet to rest after a busy day. The staff is absolutely amazing. Reception were very helpful with questions or problems, and breakfast (very good you can order from the rich menus they have) staff were kind and welcoming and you can feel their smile even beneath the masks. I had a problem on the first night and since I had arrived late there not much to do but straight up the morning the switch me a room and I felt much better they know the standards they are up to as 4 star hotel. The room was cleaned every day as expected with a good work by the cleaning staff. I will definitely come back P.s Good to remember that most of Florence hotels are in ancient buildings with small elevators…
We stayed in a deluxe room, which was very nice and had a view of one of the domes, check-in was fast and we were able to check in early, breakfast was excellent with some very nice a la carte options included and the service was excellent, always given with a smile
Hotel Centrale is indeed "central" but on a quiet street, easy walking to attractions (train station, Duomo, San Lorenzo Market, Uffizi, everything). The staff -- front desk, breakfast room, housekeeping -- is friendly, welcoming, and eager to help with any request, from an ice bucket to a covid test. Highly recommend. We stayed in the top category of room and it was very spacious, sparkling clean, plenty of light, ample electrical outlets (bring adapters, no USB ports).
In Florence, I have also stayed at Hotel Magenta, Starhotels Michelangelo and Hotel Monna Lisa. My reviews, to compare, can be found on TripAdvisor. Pros: - Location: (Walking) San Lorenzo and Michelangelo Medici Tombs (1min), Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore and Piazza Duomo (4mins), Piazza della Signoria and the Loggia dei Lanzi (8mins), Palazzo Vecchio (9mins), Ponte Vecchio (9mins), Palazzo Pitti and Boboli Gardens (14mins). - Bathroom amenities: Liquid soap, conditioning shampoo, shoe sponge, shower cap, tissues, hairdryer (1600w). - Complimentary cans of water. - Free in-room WiFi. - Excellent, respectful and proactive reception & breakfast staff. Cons: - Room was extrememly noisy in the mornings from 6:45am onwards (avoid rooms 1-9 if you want to sleep past this hour, as they are near the breakfast kitchen and cleaning staff prep room). - In-room safe is very small - tablets or notebook computers will not fit. - Surprisingly, once used, tissues or shoe sponges were never replenished during daily cleaning. - Wi-Fi extremely slow for a hotel in 2021. The in-room speed averaged only 8Mbps (down to only 1Mbps during peak hours).…
