The second day both elevators were still out of order.
The room was large and clean, the beds were comfortable, the internet was working well. The breakfast was delicious, varied with lots of choices and lots of food; excellent coffee, excellent service! We loved this hotel! The only minus was the reception guy during the night when we arrived, as he almost pushed us to cancel our reservation instead of trying to solve our problem.
First off, let’s talk switches – they’re not just vintage, they’re practically ancient. Paired with moldy walls, this place gives you a headache faster than the questionable odor in the bathroom. Speaking of smells, the room itself has a distinct aroma that’s sure to keep you alert (and nauseous). The green pillow on the bed adds a nice touch – if you’re into random, smelly décor, that is.
Now, about the ambiance – the dim lights might set a romantic mood if you’re into horror films. And if you’re into mystery, the hallways reek of the unknown (literally), while the receptionists could teach a masterclass in bad attitudes and subliminal racism.
If you’re into puzzles, you’ll love figuring out how to open your door, but if you’re into relaxation, the noisy, half-functional AC will be your worst enemy. The TV is a relic, the fridge doesn’t work, and the WiFi is slower than dial-up. Plus, good luck fitting anything bigger than a Vespa in the parking lot!
Daily cleaning is available, but don’t get too excited – there’s no side table to clutter with your belongings, and the dusty curtains might make you question their definition of “clean.” On the bright side, there are four beds in one room! Perfect if you like living in a shoebox.
The area is conveniently near a tram station, which is great because you’ll want to escape as often as possible. The kettle, by the way, never stops boiling – just like the nightmares you’ll have about the interior design. And at least there’s hot water in the morning, which is a rare blessing in this establishment.
Oh, and did I mention they have the audacity to claim this place is four stars? With rates that could fund your next luxury vacation, you might start wondering if those stars are for the number of migraines you’ll have by checkout.
And, a final pro tip: avoid licking the walls – the carcinogenic chemicals might just be the last straw.
Good luck with your stay – you’ll need it!
The closest tram station is within walking distance, which you can use to go to the center of Florence.
The breakfast at the hotel is average.
Low marks for noise isolation between rooms and between the room and the corridor - you can hear a lot from other rooms and absolutely everything from the corridor.
I'm rating this a 4 because of the low price per night compared to other options in Florence, otherwise it would be lower.
I had dinner in the restaurant after a long day of sightseeing and my partner wanted to sleep. It was so convenient and the crab pasta was good. We would stay there again.
Good free wifi. Hotel phoned early taxi for airport came in 3 mins took 5 mins cost E25
Hotel is in a wide street. Would recommend for airport stay and would stay again, if early flight as location close.
"This hotel is located in terminal 1. There is a 5 min train shuttle from terminal 2. There is a skyline walk way to get yo the hotel."Read full review
