We spent 5 nights at this hotel and found it a charming place. It is conveniently close to town and train station most places are in a short walking distance. There are some marvellous restaurants close by ; some very popular with the locals. The staff of the hotel deserve special mention all where helpful and polite. I would like...

By far the worst hotel experience in Italy and we stayed in hotels for 3 weeks. Room was musty and staff was stuffy and not very sympathetic to guests needs. One of the power outlets burned out my wife's straightening iron. When we asked for assistance it was like pulling teeth and finally they sent someone in to tell us...

Dear Guest, I'm sorry to read this comment and, if after over 4 months you still have this feeling about our hotel and service it must have been very negative. We always try to be attentive and caring to our guests and I'm really surprised that, not only we have not been in your case but we gave you such...

My husband and I stayed here for a week. I found the hotel to be quite nice, breakfast had a decent selection each morning and the staff in the breakfast dining area were extremely pleasant, always a big smile , polite and cordial. Our room was well appointed and spacious. The interior of the hotel was also very nice. Beautiful...

The desk folks also were very helpful in arranging us a trip away to sienna and st giamignano? We had room 402 which is a...

We just stayed at the Hotel Rivoli in Florence. Whilst the locations is close by most sights, we were placed in a room by the lift and facing the street and were kept awake most of the night. We found the woman at the front desk to be quite short and rude. I wouldnt recommend this place andd wont be...

We stayed here one night as the jump off to a tour of Italy. Wife and I were looking for a place that was reasonably priced and central for walking around for one day and this fit the bill. Room was very small, and we were packing heavy for an extended trip so it didnt leave much room to move...

When was the last time a front desk clerk checked you out without saying thank you or good bye or anything nice at all? My answer: at the Hotel Rivoli earlier this month. They also use colored towels (pink and blue), which means they don't bleach them although I'm not saying they were dirty -- they were clean. Room is...

This is the second time in this hotel and we will continue to return. 5 minute walk from train station is super convenient, excellent location in SMN area. Once you get your bearings, easy walk to all the sites in 5-10 minutes and easy to pop back in afternoon if needed after walking. We ask for a countyard facing room...

We stayed at this hotel at the end of September 2013. The hotel, the service, its position in the centre of Florence were exactly what we were looking for. Within walking distance from the station and main square. Reasonably large room. Clean and comfortable. Good breakfast spread. The one thing we didn't like was that we had to pay 5 Euros to use the wifi for 24 hours.

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Located in the old town of Florence, the Rivoli Boutique Hotel offers class hospitality with charm, as well as spacious and elegantly decorated hotel rooms and suites. The Rivoli Boutique Hotel is a 4-star superior hotel that is set inside a restored 14th-century Franciscan convent, where guests can breath the charming and unique atmosphere of this ancient historic building in the city of Florence. The restoration has highlighted the architectural details dating back to 1500 such as arches and vaults, coffered ceilings and stone columns. Guests are welcomed in an enchanting setting full of cozy atmosphere, embellished by refined common areas, which are conceived as an oasis of tranquility away from the hectic pace of the city. The Internal Patio, which was obtained from a complete renovation of the Franciscan cloister, is now dedicated to relaxation and wellbeing, featuring an unforgettable 20 sqm-whirlpool that is also open during the winter with a constant water temperature of 36° C. The location could not be better, a few steps from the Santa Maria Novella railway station, the Duomo Cathedral, Ponte Vecchio Bridge, opposite the ancient and famous Officina Profumo di Santa Maria Novella, and the most important museums. In addition to the interior elegant and spacious patio, the Rivoli Boutique Hotel guests can enjoy the quiteness of the small "garden of medlar", an exceptional lounge where to spend moments of real relax; in summer time the garden is available for breakfast and dinners prepared and served by Benedicta Restaurant , 3 Michelin forks. ... more   less
