We enjoyed our stay at The Hotel Brunelleschi. The rooms were clean. The bathroom was up to date and very spacious. The morning breakfast had a large variety and it was all delicious; fresh squeezed juices, lots of fresh fruit, warm and cold dishes. Very nice. We had a wonderful suite ambassador named Paulus Meershoek. He was very personable and gave us great recommendations for our travels within the city. He always made us laugh when we stopped to talk to him. He made us feel right at home. All the employees were friendly and helpful. We would stay here again!!

Hotel's Favourite
First of all, this hotel is top notch on so many levels I don't even know where to start. It's built inside a tower that dates back to the 6th century and is in the heart of historic Florence. I had originally wanted to stay in the Lungarno which is 5-star but it was so prohibitively expensive and I was going to be siteseeing and seeing my kid who's studying here for a semester abroad, so not in the room that much so I went with the 4-star Brunelleschi but it should be 5-star. It's in a tiny hidden Piazza so it's very quiet but literally 3 mins from the famed Duomo and so incredibly close to the Uffizi Gallery and everything else you want to see. I was obsessed with the breakfast buffet which includes a juice and smoothie bar, and piles of crispy, paper-thin bacon. They have fresh everything and my daughter told me the buffet here was better than the Lungarno. My room was perfect; they upgraded me to a junior suite (room 229).. spacious and huge bathroom with rain shower and modern, gorgeous fixtures, instant hot water, no waiting (like at the St. Regis in Rome where 5 mins later the water is still cold in the shower). Large screen tv, 2 different types of coffee machines-- one basic and one for espresso, pods included. Fresh bottled water every night, and the housekeeping was spectacular. I know that sounds weird to point out but every time I came back to the room it was in perfect condition. Everything wiped down. The room was very well lit which is a big deal for me because hotel rooms are often very dim but there were multiple floor lamps and tonal understated decor. Not a great view, the room overlooked a tiny street below but not noisy at all. The restaurant directly across from the hotel, Il Paoilo is phenomenal. Oh and btw, there's a Michelin star restaurant IN the hotel. I didn't get a chance to try it but hear it's amazing. I don't usually take so much time to write a review like this but it was totally deserved. Giuliana and Sergio at the front desk were accommodating and professional. Finally, the scent of the hotel is like fresh grapefruit.. I checked the atomiser in the lobby and it's a Italian fragrance company with a website and I am totally ordering the scent online. Seriously, do NOT spend a fortune at the Four Seasons or the Lungarno.. Get a jr. suite at Brunelleschi and you will be so happy. I am.

Great location within easy walking distance to the duomo and other major sights. Bed was comfortable. Like the shower. Huge TV screen. Friendly staff and helpful when asked. Breakfast was okay. The hotel is in a historic building. I ate at their restaurant one night. Not much of a menu selection but so many other restaurants around you. A supermarket is near the accademia museum too.

Beautiful, historical hotel in a perfect central location, yet still quiet with fantastic double glazing. Quality throughout. Top quality gym equipment with lovely changing rooms, water, fruit etc. 3 treadmills, I bike, 1 cross dresser and free weights. But quiet as most people are sightseeing. Very stylish bedrooms, great aircon, linens & fixtures & fittings. We had a fabulous time.

We’ve been to Florence four times and have found Hotel Brunelleschi to be the best of the four-star hotels we stayed at. It has gorgeous contemporary and stylish furnishing in a very, very beautifully updated historic building on its own small, private square that makes the hotel seem private and intimate while the other hotels we stayed at were all on busy, uninteresting streets (that all had sewer smells from drains on the road). Brunelleschi has new, fully-soundproof windows that other hotels lacked, modern and beautiful bathrooms with lots of hot water, an upscale Michelin restaurant and hotel bar and restaurant with upscale food mirroring their formal restaurant, and the special sound of church bells from Santa Maria del Fiori Cathedral. Breakfast has a huge range of choices including quirky and fun inclusions like small Valrhona dark, milk and white chocolate, almond biscotti with dessert wine to have with your morning coffee, a range of cured hams, boutique yogurts, fresh fruit, decaf cappuccinos… What set the hotel apart from the other four-star hotels we stayed at was the very thoughtful, friendly and helpful staff with a US-hotel style of service where nothing is too big or too small to warrant their attention- front desk staff anticipated guests might benefit from a chat from someone who knows the city inside out and would, for example, walk around talking to guests to ask if they had activities, restaurant reservations, a new route to walk with interesting buildings, visible interior courtyards or, say, churches that do not make main maps but are a wonder, or even the usual questions like where to buy the best ice- cream(next street) , or Italian-made purses (15 minutes away), perfume (1/2 black away) and shoes (1/4 block away). We did not see this style kind of openness at the other three hotels we stayed at where staff also set high standards for gracious service, but are perhaps more schooled in European formality and do not reach out to talk about day-to-day things travellers wonder about. The Brunelleschi is the most central hotel so you can come and go back and forth to the hotel between exploring the four quadrants of the historic city which we found beneficial in our sixties when a small pause let us recharge. Only negatives at Brunelleschi, rooms, even suites, are a bit small and the hotel lacks sitting areas to just relax other than the bar and restaurant where we felt like we shouldn’t sit long or sit without buying something. We like to sit to read (news, family correspondence, about the places we are going…) and the sitting areas in our suite had poor lighting and uncomfortable seating (take pillows off the bed) but a small negative easily forgotten when the hotel staff and hotel location so optimally facilitate a glorious stay in Florence. Second favourite was Palazzo Portinari Salviati with beautiful antique furnishings, much more space in suites, good restaurants and enchantingly lovely sitting areas in a central lobby and throughout the hotel. Still good Loggiat dei Serviti. Relais Santa Croce misses for us because spa service and these kinds of extras were not our thing in a city full of art and architecture you want to explore on foot all day. se other three are on busy, smelly, uninteresting streets with cheap stores and not quite as central. If you haven’t visited Florence, churches that do not even make Google maps and are plain on the outside are almost always incredibly beautiful inside with art that rivals the museums. Being central at Brunelleschi let us walk, walk, and walk then head back to the hotel to recharge before heading out again to se things like these churches.
