Wow, what a beautiful hotel with modern touches and what is believed to be the oldest building (tower on the side) in Florence. It even has a small museum.
Before booking this trip, I reviewed many hotels for their location and facilities and read some travel reviews (Conde Nast Traveller) and every time I thought I had found a better hotel, my mind just kept returning to this particular hotel. It's a 4 star, but in my mind it is a 5 star, as that is how it looks and feels. I went with my gut feeling and I was not wrong.

We got the tram from Peretola Airport to Unita (1.70 euros each with a journey time of just 20 minutes). From Santa Maria Novella it took around 10 minutes to walk to the hotel (Good if you have just a cabin bag only).

From the minute we arrived professional welcoming smiles from ALL the helpful staff at reception. Nothing was too much trouble. We checked in and went for a wander (lunch) whilst waiting for the room.

We booked a deluxe room and was hoping for a bit of a view, but we got the side street instead. Not a problem as we were out all day. The room had everything you needed (including one UK socket), but a European adapter is a necessity. The bathroom was beautiful with all the usual toiletries as well as dental kits, shaving kits, make up remover pads and cotton buds (Good to know!). I really liked the layout of the room as the wardrobe space was in a separate part with the entrance and you then had to walk into the bedroom and through another door to the bathroom, so although the rooms are within the standard of most European countries (small) , it felt spacious enough. Lovely cozy bed with chocolate by the bedside (nice touch!). Usual tea (Earl Grey) and coffee and complimentary water and a fully stocked minibar and snacks available (chargeable). A good sized safe (bigger than most I've seen) and plenty of hanging space.

Breakfast was fabulous with a few hot items like sausages, bacon, scrambled eggs and hash browns. There was an assortment of cereals, fruits, pastries, everything you would expect from a good continental breakfast fare.
I can't comment on the restaurants at the hotel but folks do say they are very good.

The location is great with a few minutes walk to the Duomo and Piazza della Signoria, where the Uffizi gallery is situated and 5 mins to the Ponte Vecchio, all well connected from the main shopping area of Via dei Calzaiuoii. Seriously, the location is the best for everything and more importantly you can't get lost.

We had to cut our stay short by one day, but we will most definitely stay here again in the future.

Thank you Hotel Brunelleschi, we had the most amazing stay at your beautiful hotel!

First of all, this hotel is top notch on so many levels I don't even know where to start. It's built inside a tower that dates back to the 6th century and is in the heart of historic Florence. I had originally wanted to stay in the Lungarno which is 5-star but it was so prohibitively expensive and I was going to be siteseeing and seeing my kid who's studying here for a semester abroad, so not in the room that much so I went with the 4-star Brunelleschi but it should be 5-star. It's in a tiny hidden Piazza so it's very quiet but literally 3 mins from the famed Duomo and so incredibly close to the Uffizi Gallery and everything else you want to see. I was obsessed with the breakfast buffet which includes a juice and smoothie bar, and piles of crispy, paper-thin bacon. They have fresh everything and my daughter told me the buffet here was better than the Lungarno. My room was perfect; they upgraded me to a junior suite (room 229).. spacious and huge bathroom with rain shower and modern, gorgeous fixtures, instant hot water, no waiting (like at the St. Regis in Rome where 5 mins later the water is still cold in the shower). Large screen tv, 2 different types of coffee machines-- one basic and one for espresso, pods included. Fresh bottled water every night, and the housekeeping was spectacular. I know that sounds weird to point out but every time I came back to the room it was in perfect condition. Everything wiped down. The room was very well lit which is a big deal for me because hotel rooms are often very dim but there were multiple floor lamps and tonal understated decor. Not a great view, the room overlooked a tiny street below but not noisy at all. The restaurant directly across from the hotel, Il Paoilo is phenomenal. Oh and btw, there's a Michelin star restaurant IN the hotel. I didn't get a chance to try it but hear it's amazing. I don't usually take so much time to write a review like this but it was totally deserved. Giuliana and Sergio at the front desk were accommodating and professional. Finally, the scent of the hotel is like fresh grapefruit.. I checked the atomiser in the lobby and it's a Italian fragrance company with a website and I am totally ordering the scent online. Seriously, do NOT spend a fortune at the Four Seasons or the Lungarno.. Get a jr. suite at Brunelleschi and you will be so happy. I am.

After visiting Florence last year a return trip was always going to happen and a second stay in this amazing hotel was something we didn't have to think twice about. Again we were upgraded to a room overlooking the Via dei Calzaiuoli and as returning guests, gifted a bottle of prosecco on ice accompanied by a lovely note from the general manager. We'd intended to go straight out to the Mercato Centrale for lunch - we did make it, slightly later than planned and it took me a little longer to get a grip of my map but totally worth it, that prosecco was lovely!
Our room was clean, comfortable, everything we expected. Bottles of water are replenished daily and housekeeping is of a high standard. Breakfast is the most generous offering of any hotel I've ever stayed in - continental, hot foods, pastries, fruit, yoghurts, fresh juices, omelette and whatnots as an optional paid extra should you feel the need - we did not, the existing selection is more than enough.
The hotel's location - about two minutes from the Duomo - is perfect, and the jewel in the crown of the Brunelleschi is it's staff. I cannot emphasise enough how professional, friendly, competent and above all, approachable the team members are. You are greeted every time you pass reception and it is delightful to recognise people there from your previous visit. Paulus last year helped us with a travel related problem and we really appreciated his efforts, seeing him again on reception this year was a genuine pleasure. Thank you, everyone.
Florence - too much to see and do, and eat, but give it a go. Work out what you want to see and do, plan your time, you probably won't do it all but what you will see will change you. You'll need a holiday to get over this holiday and have stuff on the to-do list for next time. As compact as the city is, there really is a wealth of art and beauty and history waiting for you. I'm already planning our return trip for my next big birthday.

The hotel is fantastic. I would highly encourage anyone who is visiting Florence to check it out. The decor is that of classic opulence, with modern touches. Our room, although relatively small, had everything we needed and more. The cleaning staff do an impeccable job, even tidying up our device cables into neat bundles each time they cleaned. The TV had a huge array of channels, there was a safe, a mini bar and a coffee machine.
The breakfast was top notch, offering a variety of hot and cold foods to meet all requirements.
The bar in the Piazza outside offers an impressive array of ‘tasters’ from the 2Michelin starred restaurant within the hotel, and offers great value for money and fantastic cocktails. The Brunelleschi Margherita was delicious!
Now on to the reception staff and porters. They are so incredibly polite, knowledgeable and helpful. We arrived at the hotel in a bit of a sweaty mess, having made the foolish decision to walk from the Firenze SMN station, about 15 mins away, in 30+ degree heat ☀️. The porter took our cases off us and thrust an ice cold bottle of water in to each of our hands to help cool us down, before Symon showed us to our room.
Most people won’t, but we also used the gym and found this to be more than adequate, although the treadmills touchscreens were a little over sensitive and decided to stop, mid run for no reason at all. Nothing we couldn’t deal with but a little annoying nonetheless.

Apart from being a historical building, right in the centre and within a few paces of key sites, smart bars and restaurants, this is the most beautiful, truly special hotel. The service was outstanding. Our room was stylish with a most comfortable, wide bed and everything to make our stay comfortable - lush robes and slippers, a HUGE television and high quality toiletries. Delicious chocolate treats! The housekeeping staff came TWICE a day and asked if we needed anything, including new towels and chocolates. The bar was our favourite and after only one visit, the bar staff (Catherine?) remembered my daughter's nut allergy and under their own initiative asked if we needed particular snacks. How thoughtful! Breakfast was off the scale - every delight you could imagine and the staff explained about a particular liqueur with dry biscuits that was an intriguing addition and an Italian treat. Absolutely delicious, extensive range and something to suit any tastebuds. We were taken down into the museum and saw the ancient foundations to the building and what had been unearthed and carefully preserved. The desk staff explained availability to different sites and directions to follow and when we left they were concerned that we were walking to the station and offered complimentary drinks to take. They were genuinely CARING and made us feel special, valued and welcomed to Florence. I cannot recommend this place enough. I would return in a heartbeat.

I recently stayed here with my wife and found that all the staff, from the front desk to those servicing the rooms to be the most friendly and helpful staff I have come across. A special mention has to go to the Doorman who was always there to help and assist, from providing an umbrella to a towel to dry our coats after getting caught in a downpour. The Rooms were always clean and well prepared with great little touches of turndown service and chocolates, even earplugs to quell the morning bell chiming of the nearby Duomo, (nice touch) the Bells weren't that loud though. The Breakfast was also extremely good with great service and choice. The Location was excellent, right in the heart of Florence, near the Duomo. It was the attention to detail that has earned the 5 star rating from me. Well done to all those at the Brunelleschi, we had a great stay, thank you.

Upon arrival we received a very hospitable welcome from a Dutch-speaking receptionist. We received an unsolicited upgrade that we were extremely pleased with. A room on the shopping street side with all luxurious amenities. The room is visited twice a day by housekeeping and in the evening your slippers are next to the bed with a bottle of water and chocolate on the bedside table. The breakfast is versatile and has something for everyone. Without informing the staff, a bottle of bubbles, 2 glasses and a congratulations card for my wife's birthday were ready in the room in the afternoon. I can't find any negative point.

Just returned from a long weekend in Florence where we stayed at the Brunelleschi Hotel, in the heart of the city. Our room was on the first floor, overlooking Via dei Calzaiuoli. The room was very clean and comfortable and had a kettle, coffee maker and mini fridge. The shower over the bath had sufficient power and hot water. Only downside was that the room had a four poster bed that restricted movement in the room. The room was cleaned daily and the bed turned down in the evening, with a nice touch of hand made chocolates put on bedside table.

The continental breakfast selection was vast, cereals, meats, cheese, fresh fruits, fruit juices, smoothies and a selection of hot items. If you are feeing really brave Cantucci and vin Santo is available.

The hotel staff played a big part in making a truly memorable experience of our stay in Florence. My wife celebrated a birthday whilst we were at the hotel. The staff at breakfast found out that it was my wife’s birthday and provided a cake with a candle and sung happy birthday. The reception staff wished my wife happy birthday when we went out exploring and later in the evening we dined at the hotel, the food and service was excellent but, when my wifes dessert was delivered, it came with a lit candle.

We would definitely look to stay here again on our next visit.

The hotel is in the most convenient location in Florence, directly 1-7 minutes from all the main attractions and shopping streets of the city. This is a historical building, one of the oldest towers in the city with beautiful interior design, and most importantly - excellent and very attentive, courteous, fast service! At the reception we were mainly dealt with by Paulus, and it was a real pleasure, because Paulus is especially polite and gallant with guests! But all the other employees always helped with all questions and communicated very friendly. We felt like very important people.))

By the way, this was once a women's prison. )) Impressive! On the first night I felt a little uncomfortable because of this...)) To be honest, also because the beds in our room were very narrow and rolled on wheels. We moved them, but they moved apart periodically. ) + quite a lot of audibility, and we lived near the elevator.., but in this case there were earplugs in the room.
Since this is a historical building, and since this is Italy, the room was tiny, but very cozy and very beautifully designed, like the whole hotel.

In the room we were greeted by a bottle of Prosecco as a compliment, fresh flowers, sweets, and a letter from the hotel's general manager. ) Very pleasant moments - compliments!

I would also like to mention Johnny and Alex at the Osteria Pagliazza hotel restaurant! These are the best waiters I have met in Italy! I recommend visiting the restaurant primarily because of the service))) and the food and wine are amazing.

By the way, the hotel has a museum that all guests can visit free of charge and around the clock.

As we learned, it is better to come to Italy not in August, since August is the time for vacation for many Italians. For example, the chef of the Michelin-starred restaurant Santa Elisabetta of the Brunelleschi Hotel is on vacation during this period, and this restaurant is closed now, unfortunately. But we were able to try some of the most popular Michelin dishes presented on the menu of another hotel restaurant - Osteria Pagliazza, prepared by the second chef of the Michelin restaurant, where we were served by the incredible waiters Alex and Johnny!! It was pleasant, tasty and elegant!

The Brunelleschi hotel is one of the best we’ve stayed at. We stayed for my mum’s birthday and the hotel really made our entire stay memorable. The whole experience they offer is fantastic. This would have been my 3rd stay and they are still offering the same fantastic service each time. When we arrived the car that picked us up from the airport couldn’t make it down the small street and due to it raining the hotel staff met us with umbrellas and escorted us to the hotel itself. The check in process was quick and as stress free as you could ask for. The rooms we had were right on the street and a bottle of Prosecco waiting in the room was a lovely touch and the best start to my mum’s birthday. Being on the street side we heard absolute no noise, which was great. The beds and pillows are just best. After walking around the incredible city of Florence all day and then coming back to this hotel was a treat. The breakfast was perfect for what we needed and the coffee was great. The bar in the hotel is fantastic and the cocktails were some of the best we’ve had. They had an amazing fragrance throughout the hotel. We liked it so much we purchased a bottle to take home with us. Finally the staff are really the highlight of the hotel. They offer a 5 star service, nothing was too much trouble and they were always friendly and helpful for anything we needed. I really can’t recommend this hotel enough. Hopefully I’ll be back again in the future.

I’m not sure. All the rooms we saw have an open view but not a balcony. Hope that helps Congrats!! You can always contact Paulus at the hotel directly. They will respond very promptly. They also have us a free upgrade without asking. I’m sure if you mention your anniversary and balcony question and if available they will do everything possible to make it happen

Pretty sure they can accomodate -- my wife is celiac and they did a great job ensuring she had lots to eat. Granted we only had breakfast there. I would call ahead to be on the safe side..
