This hotel is a location in Florence and a very good value. The rooms were spacious compared to others in Italy. The beds were comfortable. The breakfast was so so- mainly cold options. There was a elevator but was small and slow- mainly used to carry your baggage. Be prepared to walk up. If looking for an inexpensive option in...

The property is an old palace set in a superb location . Our room was smaller than I had anticipated but perfectly adequate. The hotel is in need of modernisation though this would have to be done so sensitively not to ruin the charm of the building . I really enjoyed the place . Super location for all major sites. Staff...

I stayed here for 3 nights at the end of October as a solo traveller. I had a small single room which whilst small had everything I needed. My room was at the back of the hotel and looked over a busy road which had a lot of traffic noise throughout the day and night. However the central location is...

It might be a place lacking some sort of a face-lift but it conveys a beautiful atmosphere of yesteryear. And this is exactly what makes it unique and so charming. This former 18th century palace provides a wonderful opportunity to share the brilliant history of Florence. The breakfast room is laid under a ceiling full of original paintings and opens...

This hotel is very clean but outdated. The hotel staff were great, they found out we were on our honeymoon and brought us a bottle of champagne. Our room was very spacious which was nice but was on the Main Street, which the ambulances use as their main way to the hospital which made it very noisy at night.

We stayed here for 3 nights. We'd booked a superior room but were upgraded to a deluxe room. The impressive room was very large but mostly filled with beds (1 large double and 2 singles). This wasn't really a problem but it might have been nice to have some more comfortable seating instead. The bed was very comfortable though and...

The entire hotel is dirty.. with stains on the carpeting. The hotel faces the street so there is plenty of noise all night with ambulances and people talking. The breakfast has plenty of selection and would be the only saving grace of this hotel as well as the location. I would not stay here again.

Dear Guests, we regret a lot that you did not enjoy your stay in our hotel. We have already changed carpets in most of our rooms and soon are going to change it also in the common area. As far as it regards the noise we have got different rooms facing on the inside courtyards which are quiet: you can...

Very friendly staff in a very unique hotel. Rooms were small with the bedroom upstairs. Bathroom very small. But it was clean and had tons of character. The breakfast was good. It was the perfect location as it is central to everything We enjoyed it

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
