We booked a quadruple room via hotels.com. First off the pictures on trip advisor and hotels.com are absolutely nothing like the room we reviewed. The room is outdated I mean way out of this world. It's dirty, the hairdryer resembles a vacuum cleaner. The mattresses are hard and one of the twin mattresses we had felt like cardboard on a...

I have just spent a week in Florence and greatly enjoyed the whole experience. Situated in a charming 17th century building, the Unicorno Hotel is quite close to the major attractions of the city, as well as to the train station. My room (on the third floor) had been recently renovated. As far as the members of the staff are...

Hotel is a five minute walk from the train station and situated in the heart of Florence right next to a beautiful square with amazing restaurants. There is often live music in the square. The hotel was very authentic, staff very helpful providing plenty of honest recommendations. The rooms were very spacious, free safe, very clean, comfortable beds and good...

Me and a friend stayed here in the beginning og July. A perfect location, walking distance to everything. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The Young guy working there was excellent. He was always smiling and eager to help us find the best places to go. We asked him where he normally would go to eat pizza. He then...

The hotel was at a short distance from the railway station and the staff was friendly. The room was big enough for me and the breakfast was perfect. The AC worked well and cooled down my room. The bathroom was also big enough. The room design was poor but I didn't care. Could stay here again if I visit Florence.

I stayed here last week for two nights with my kids. Great location, near all the main sites and train station. Restaurants everywhere you turn! Room was clean, quiet and big enough for us and luggage. The free breakfast was yummy with a lot of choices. The staff helped with train questions we had and we had wifi in our...

Very good location, hotel itself situated in an authentic building which definitely has a certain charm. Staff generally friendly. My room was very spacious and clean. All these positives could not compensate for the dated furniture and bathroom and old and noisy A/C. Windows let all traffic noise resonating loud in the narrow street in. Breakfast mediocre even to Italian...

We stayed here four nights. The room we had faced the internal light void, and was very quiet. Excepting that at about 5:15am the clean linen obviously arrives and gets packed away and the noise certainly woke us every morning. The free wifi reception was at its limit in that room - 101 often sitting on one bar and if...

We stayed at the Hotel Unicorno for 3 nights in April. It is at a walking distance from the railway station. Also, most of the tourist attractions in Florence are nearby, including the Duomo. The hotel is maintained well, rooms are very clean and of decent size. The staff is friendly and helpful. The breakfast has a decent spread too.

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
