Hotel Berchielli garners praise for its elegant atmosphere and traditional decor, with many guests enchanted by the quality linens and the stunning views from the breakfast room. While the hotel's location is repeatedly lauded for its proximity to attractions and scenic river vistas, opinions on value are mixed, with guests appreciating the reasonable drink prices but occasionally taken aback by unexpected fees.
The rooms are generally celebrated for their spaciousness and cleanliness, though experiences can differ. Service at Berchielli is often commended for staff attentiveness, despite the rare lapse.

The river view rooms are large, with unsurpassed views of the river. There is not any better possible location than mere steps from the Ponte Vecchio, and within easy walking distance of all museums and a huge selection of excellent restaurants. The staff was efficient, helpful. and made some excellent restaurant recommendations.

We stayed as two couples in this lovely hotel. It is very centrally located, within walking distance from most of the sites / attractions and it overlooks the river on one side and a church in a small courtyard on the other.
We stayed in standard rooms, which were fairly small but they served our purpose well. They were very clean and the bed was very comfortable with good quality, crisp cotton sheets that were changed daily.
The breakfast was plentiful with lots to choose from - there was fresh fruit, yoghurt, meats, smoked salmon, cheese, hams, cooked scrambled eggs, crispy bacon and the usual toast, rolls, croissants, cakes etc. the quality of the breakfast was good and we never tired of it during our 4 night stay.
The staff were very efficient and friendly. The reception staff were always on hand to book a restaurant or tickets for a museum or other attraction. Special mention goes to Claudio the barman who went above and beyond to make our stay extra special - he kept us fed and watered and was simply amazing! Thank you Claudio!
We would definitely return.

It was an accident of circumstance which led to our stay at the Berchielli. However, after our recent 8 days there, we would love to stay there again at any time. We found it charming, welcoming and very friendly.
Location: once you know your way around, you'll realize how ideally located it is.
Cleanliness: our room and bathroom were impeccably cared for at all times. The Arno view room is worth paying extra for: a perfect, postcard view of the river, bridges and houses opposite. We slept soundly despite occasional sounds of holiday merriment in the street below.
Breakfast: the team did a wonderful job of meeting everyones' needs, in a timely and charming way, even though due to covid restrictions each guest had to be served individually by staff from the buffet.
Covid restrictions: followed to the letter throughout the hotel.
And finally, the reception team: for us, they could not have been more helpful and accommodating.
As a result, we have already booked our return to the Berchielli. Thank you to everyone there for making our stay so delightful.

Right on the riverbank, the Hotel Berchielli offers some rooms that have the perfect, unobstructed view of the Arno and its bridges. It is on the pricier side of accomodations available in Florence but for those loving a view it is a perfect option. The breakfast buffet is super large with anything and everything imaginable, including customised cappuccinos.

Stayed here for four nights on a bed and breakfast basis. No Room with a View (!!!) sadly but a stunning hotel nonetheless. Amazing building with period features, cleanliness beyond anything I’ve experienced in a hotel. Lovely double room with marble en suite. Fragrant complimentary toiletries, fluffy towels. The smoothest bed linen and comfortable bed. Evening turn down service. Carpets thick and plush which deadens noise at night.
Staff are incredibly helpful and charming without being officious.
Do be aware that the hotel
Has a €7 euro per night holiday tax which is added to your bill on check out.
I had a couple of drinks from the hotel bar which I took up to the beautiful roof terrace. Drinks prices are not prohibitive - €7 for a Prosecco and €15 for what I’m reasonably sure was a triple gin with tonic!!
I enjoyed breakfast each morning and the buffet choices are superb. Tea and coffee to order. There are numerous juices and San Pellegrino water. Cereals and granola. Lots of pastries many custard filled, at least three different cakes - the chocolate hazelnut one is to die for. There are hot scrambled eggs American bacon two types sausage and pancakes. Cold meats and cheeses and smoked salmon. A huge variety of the nicest bread rolls I’ve ever tasted and bread for toasting. Yoghurts and butter in a mini fridge. Fruits galore and fresh fruit salad prunes apricots and sliced melon and pineapple.
The breakfast room is stunning with polished wooden floors and white and gold jacquard table cloths. Heavy quality cutlery and nice China.
I slept well, felt completely safe as a solo traveler and didn’t want to leave at the end of my stay. I can’t recommend highly enough.
Oh and finally. Walk out the front doors and you are opposite the Arno with the Ponte Vecchio just a few steps to your left. Perfecto!

Stayed four nights over Easter 2022 and could not fault the hotel in any way. Set on the riverside with the Ponte Vecchio outside the front door, literally a stones throw away. Foyer and ground floor was functional but we did not use the hotel bar. Breakfast room was on the second floor and full range of cereals, juices (fresh), pastries and cold meats available. Has scrambled eggs and sausages also so all tastes catered for.
Best feature, for us, was our room on 6th floor, rear of hotel. Room 607. Window looked over the views of Florence rooftops which we loved. Very quiet except for the clip clop of the horse and carriages in the afternoon during siesta time, it only added to the ambience of Florence and we looked forward to it.
Would stay there again, cannot wait to return

Our first stay in this hotel was in 2018. It was a pleasant relief to find that our second visit in November 2023, was just as enjoyable as our first.
Our room (504) had a lovely view of the river, and being a corner room was really spacious. The bathroom had obviously been recently upgraded and was well appointed. The room itself may have also been upgraded, as the paint was fresh, and not tired looking in any way.
The bed was clean and comfortable, and the furniture well appointed with reasonable storage space.
Plenty of spare electrical sockets, but you need to bring your own USB adaptors. We knew that this was likely to be the case from our previous visit, so it wasn’t an issue.
The hotel staff regularly replenished shampoo etc. and they kept the room clean and tidy.
Breakfasts - WOW!! Other reviews we read mentioned that the breakfasts were poor. We certainly didn’t find this to be the case, in fact it seemed that everything you could wish for was available. Cake for breakfast - what more could you want? This breakfast feast meant that I had to run up the the Piazzale Michelangelo every morning (a really nice run up past the consulates with a very rewarding view of the city at the top) in order to enjoy breakfast.
The breakfast room was staffed by a group of very smartly attired waiters, who ensured that all items were constantly replenished. Coffee and tea were delivered quickly and without fuss. Breakfasts were very relaxing, especially after a good run!
The front desk staff were all friendly and extremely helpful. We had an issue with one of our Trenitalia tickets, and their advice as how to remedy the issue was spot on. We’d got tickets out of a machine, and wanted an open ticket, rather than one for a specific time.
Check out was completed quickly and efficiently, and our cases stored safely whilst we went for our last stroll around the lovely city.
Would thoroughly recommend this hotel.

This is a four star and deserves it! The location is right on the Arno River -and if you are lucky, you can have a room overlooking the Arno and Ponte Vecchio as we did.
The breakfast is included and is expansive-note; you can ask for your eggs to be cooked for you.
Convenient to walk anywhere in Florence—Duomo, Piti Palace, Uffici—anywhere!
The rooms are spacious and elegant. There is a fourth floor patio that is charming.
The front desk can be “moody”—but all in all, a perfect hotel!
Highly recommend for location, elegance and beauty.

The hotel is very nice and in an excellent location for visiting the sights in Florence. The staff were very pleasant and helpful, especially the bar staff. Covid measures were in place and so masks were worn and the staff served us our selections from the breakfast buffet. Our room was comfortable and our only criticism was the thin and lumpy pillows. Nevertheless, we still recommend the hotel and would stay there again.
