My wife and I stayed here in November which was our first time in Florence and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It's a beautiful hotel in an excellent location, about 25 minutes walk to the city centre, also there is a bus stop outside the door if you don't fancy walking. The room was very spacious and comfortable with a large balcony and free mini bar. Just down the hall was the breakfast room which had a lovely selection of food and beverages, constantly re stocked by the very friendly Jay ! The happy hour every evening was so good to come back to after our day out with complimentary beer, wine, sandwiches and snacks. The staff were so friendly and helpful with everything. We will definitely come back to Florence and to Hotel David. Highly Recommended !
This was a very cute hotel and the staff was friendly. The also had a nice breakfast buffet and the holiday decorations were well done. Just off of the river, so a short walk to central Florence. Also a few dining choices were around the corner with a short 2 minute walk.
Arriving with a car is a little bit interesting, but once you find a spot to temporarily stop in, reception quickly helps you to their parking area. Parking is secure and the keys are left at the front desk. The staff are gracious, professional and welcoming. This is a beautiful hotel with wonderful public rooms and a delightful outdoor area for happy hour. We chose the romantic room which is on the main floor because of its size. A spacious room with a queen four poster bed, beautifully decorated and with hardwood floors. The bed and pillows were very comfortable, the room very quiet with double doors so no noise from the hallway, double windows plus outside roller shades for noise reduction and darkness - perfect. We slept very well here! The bathroom was spacious and there was plenty of hot water and lots of volume. Beautiful tiles, everything spotlessly clean! An enormous rain shower head plus a handheld shower. There were two suitcase benches which I’m sure if you read my reviews you tire of me saying but why don’t all hotels provide two spots for suitcases for a couple? Who travels with one suitcase between two people? Great job Hotel David! The A/C worked well and the wi fi signal was strong. Breakfast was a buffet of scrambled eggs, meats, cheese, cereals and ‘fantastic’ croissants. Happy Hour from 7:00 to 8:00 is a very nice surprise. One is not sure what to expect when a hotel says they have Happy Hour but the array of snacks from chips, peanuts to petite sandwiches, pasta salad and much more was a pleasant surprise. Bottles of wine are set out and enjoying all of it either indoors in the public rooms or outside is a nice way to end a hectic day in Florence. In addition, the mini bar in your room is also complimentary with coke and beer. Hotel David is a 25 minute walk to historic centro but it is a pleasant walk. For us the location was ideal, out of the historic centro but close enough to walk to. We took our time choosing a hotel for Florence and were very happy we chose Hotel David. When in Florence, it will be our hotel of choice.…
This hotel is amazing! The best hotel experience we have ever in Italy. Rooms are immaculate clean, reasonable priced with special services like complimentary happy hour from 7pm to 8pm, complimentary breakfast which is delicious and a lot to choose from. But their biggest asset is their service, staff are extremely nice and helpful, from the check in with Gino, day to day with Rukman and check out with Chiara but the best staff is JR who took good care of us from day one happy hour to every morning breakfast. He gave us a lot of good suggestions and he’s extremely helpful and always cheerful! A big thank you to JR that makes our stay wonderful. We will surely be back to your hotel and will highly recommend it to our friends and family!
My wife and I spent 5 nights at Hotel David and were delighted to find that it is in a charming and quiet residential neighborhood that was away from the bustle of downtown Florence, and yet only a 20 minute walk to the center of town. Even better, a bus stops right outside the hotel and teaks 5 minutes to the foot of the Pontevecchio, making it an even shorter walk. The neighborhood had some very nice restaurants. We recommend LaPiperna, just around the corner, for great Italian comfort food at a reasonable price. Hotel David was very homey, with a delicious breakfast, and clean comfortable rooms. The staff was especially friendly and made us feel like old friends. A particular shout out to Rukman, who corresponded and advised us as we were planning our visit, and who always had good advice while we were there. When we return to Florence, we will look forward to making Hotel David our home again. …
Lovely, small almost like a family hotel. Quite amazing place Nice breakfast - and don’t forget happy hour at 6pm. Small snacks and some drinks Superb and lovely service. Definitely family friendly. Feeling like a home. All nice and tidy. After being in old and overpriced hotel Meridien in Rome this one is as an oasis The stars assigned to the hotel’s should change. This one should be at least four stars!
Hotel David is not based in the centre of the old town, but a good 15-20 minutes stroll away. There are buses and a taxi rank outside. Despite being right on the river Arno and at a junction leading to a bridge, the hotel is very quiet inside and you would never guess its proximity to traffic. There is a courtyard outside where they serve "Happy Hour" daily, providing wine, beer & soft drinks for free, together with nibbles. Inside the walls are stencilled with animals & flowers and inside the rooms leaves & garlands are painted on the walls & ceiling. Anyone having read previous reviews of mine will remember that I always complain of insufficient surfaces in the bathroom for toiletries. Not so in this case-there is almost too much, but I was not complaining. Breakfast was provided in a dedicated breakfast room which access to the garden at the back of the hotel should you wish to breakfast al fresco. The staff were more than helpful. I needed to book the shuttle back to Pisa airport, but as the computer in the guest lounge did not seem to want to connect me, they allowed me to use the computer behind the reception desk, confusing a number of guests arriving back to collect their room keys. I cannot recommend this hotel too highly.…
Where do I even begin??!! This is an unassuming hotel in the heart of Florence/Firenze, not too far from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the city. We walked daily about 20-30 minutes to the city center, but to us, it was a fantastic location. Maybe about 10-15 minutes by taxi depending on the night. First, I just want to say that Rukman at the front desk is an absolute ROCKSTAR. We traveled from the USA for the first time, and even before we arrived, he and his team helped us secure a private transfer for our wine tasting tour. During our stay, I also had questions about some things, and he was persistent about getting an answer for me!! His follow through was amazing!! I even forgot something after checking out and he arranged to ship it to our other hotel. Shout out to Gino at the front desk who was also super helpful!! I used to work front desk at hotels and have a special place in my heart for front desk peeps!! The service here was awesome compared to other places we stayed in Italy. From the moment we arrived, we also saw a housekeeping team member tidying up the lobby even after we went into the room, everything was sparkling clean. I felt extremely comfortable and safe at Hotel David. It really is a small family feel at this place like everyone says. Breakfast is available daily in the mornings and is absolutely delicious considering that it’s included. The lady and team who manages that is also such a hard worker and killing it every day!! I absolutely loved my stay here and would come back again in a heartbeat. Highly recommend Hotel David and am already looking forward to staying here the next time we are in Florence! Hands down, five star experience for me. (:…
This is a wonderful hotel away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. They serve a full breakfast that does not disappoint! They also had an evening happy hour (no extra cost). It is a very short walk (about 15 minutes) to Piazza Michelangelo! The bus stop (for those who don't want to walk) is right in front of the hotel. We stayed in room 12 with a balcony. The rooms were very clean. Definitely recommend this hotel if you want to be off the beaten path. But not too far from city center!
Absolutely loved the hotel - lived up to excellent reviews. Shared a triple room with our teenage daughter, loads of space and comfortable beds. Relaxing lounge and outdoor terrace. Happy hour a real treat and having tea available with kettle in room was a nice touch. Enjoyed a simple breakfast on the upper terrace each morning. Reception very helpful giving ideas for restaurants and activities. Enjoyed the walk in and out of the main centre. Got the tram/bus there from airport and taxi back. It has a lovely Pensione feel about it which fitted perfectly with our romantic view of Florence.
