I took my son and his girlfriend on a trip to Italy last summer and we stayed at the Principe Hotel for just one night, but it was the perfect fit for us. The location was great, if you enjoy a short stroll down the Arno from the main attractions in Florence. The rooms were lovely and charming, and the...

Quiet hotel. Perfect location if you have an appointment at the american embassy. 20 min walk to city center at least. Lots of tipycal restaurants close by (5 min walk). Parking available and beautiful garden in which you can rest or have breakfast. Great breakfast, continental style, big variety and fresh. All the staff is available, nice and helpful.

All is perfect with this Hotel. The clean rooms, the generous breakfast, the very kind staff, as well as the good and easy to find location. As you can reach all in walking distance, you better park the car in the Hotel-Parking for all the stay in Florence. It was a real pleasure to be there.

I really love this hotel. This was my second stay in the Hoel Principe. I love its calm and cozy ambience. The room was spacy and decorated in a traditional and comfortable way where I could see the Arno river. We enjoyed breakfasts in the garden and also had a great time on the roof top terrace where we could...

Hotel is good for family, spacious room for two children (10 & 13 years old). I didn't get a room facing the river better to ask for it. It is a family hotel and they parking space for free. It wasn't near the attraction but walking distance to the sightseeing 15 minutes. They have a good trace on the roof...

We stayed in the hotel for 3 nights. I'm happy we chose this hotel. The room was on top floor with a big balcony to the river side. It just happens to be the best view from any hotel. All the good places are close by. The hotel is built in 1860 and decorated very nice. On the backyard is...

We stayed at this hotel for one night on the 6th July, it was the second stop on our tour of Tuscany. We initially chose this hotel mainly because of location and the added bonus of car parking but I have to say we were delighted with our choice of accommodation. On arrival we were greeted warmly and shown to...

I booked this place for a night in Florence whilst on holiday for 3 weeks in Italy. I have to say we were disapponted especially given the £163 price tag (we paid a bit extra for a view which was lovely). The hotel is tired, dated and feels unloved and underused. The room, whilst large and functional smelt musty and...

Very near train station, 20-30 minutes walk to city center. Room including toilet is very small. Have to put big luggage on the desk because no space on floor. Tiny bath tub / shower area. Have to shower sideways. If not river view, View is just wall/window of other building. Can hear muffled conversation from other room.

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
