Enjoyed my time there thoroughly..The staff were amazingly helpful. I got a great rate on the room, and was completely satisfied with the accomodations.. Often, if you get a cheap rate your room is at the bottom rung when it comes to amenities and size. But not so at the Principe. I had accidentally taken my B&B key from my...

The 5th generation of hoteliers is running this family owned 20 rooms old style hotel. We were given a room with terrace overlooking the Arno. Simpy ideal. Clean room with all the expected facilities (TV, fridge). I am not sure about aircon (the top floor, 4th, rooms might be hot in summer, right under the roof). Spacious and well functionning...

We stayed at Principe Hotel for 2 nights during an Italy trip for our honeymoon. Our room was beautiful - king size bed, large tub/shower. The hotel graciously gave us a room with a balcony overlooking the Arno and flowers for our honeymoon. Definitely something that we very much appreciated! The breakfast was beyond expectations. There was an assortment of...

Our second stay in Hotel Principe re-inforced our view from our first stay, in 2008, that this is the best place to stay in Florence. With great views of the river Arno and the south side of Florence, the hotel is located within easy walking distance to the centre, and easily accessible by car. This family-owned hotel provides excellent and...

This hotel was just wonderful. Overlooking the Arno River. My husband and I stayed here for several nights. The room was beautiful. Nicely decorated. Comfortable. There is an elevator. The staff were all professional, gracious, and accomodating. The breakfast buffet was simply delicious. Fresh fruit, meats, yogurt, breads, fresh juice, cappucinos.... Perfect. We walked everywhere from this hotel. Close enough...

My wife and I stayed two nights here during our honeymoon and had a wonderful time in our Mini-Suite at the Hotel Principe. We thought the décor was beautiful, the location was excellent, and the quality of service was representative of what a 4-star hotel should be. Upon arrival we were greeted kindly and given the opportunity to inspect and...

It's in a great location right along the river with a great rooftop terrance with 360 views of the city. Our room was at the back of the building with a balcony that faced the hills and city. The room was a bit small so the balcony helped out alot. The air conditioner was terrible and was shut off in...

We recently stayed at the Hotel Principe with our 3 children aged 13, 10, and 8 as well as our labradoodle. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The hotel location is great. It is by the Arno river and a short walk from the more touristy attractions. The area was fairly quiet with little traffic. We drove to Florence, and...

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
