The room was as expected . Decent Wi-fi. Liked the old vibe of the whole villa , takes you back in time a bit, really nice feeling. 🔝👌👍 Excelent bathroom facilities. Great location ,30 minutes walking distance from city center. Would definetely recommend staying here if you intend to visit the beautiful Florence !
Nice location not far from the heart of Florence and great hiking routes and views. Good breakfasts and very kind personnel (thanks Moreno). Some rooms are very small, you’d better check it up in advance.
The hotel grounds are very nice and room itself had a rustic charm. The aircon had some issues, however, helpful staff provided a fan for the night. Easy to get to the city center by bus with a bus stop within a short distance from the hotel. Ther breakfast food selection was quite basic.
So the reasoning for 3 stars to start with.. location isn’t bad at all but it’s about 20-30 minutes walk to the main area of Florence (I knew this before so it’s not really affected the stars). My biggest issue was the air conditioning which looked as old as the building.. and it didn’t really work. For example where I’m staying now the AC being on for 5 minutes the room is freezing! But in our room there we had it on constantly and it didn’t do anything! After that moan back to the lovely hotel! The building is beautiful, inside it’s nicely decorated, outside too. The staff are lovely, especially the young lady in reception. Our room (except the AC) was nice, spacious and clean. The breakfast is as you’d expect bread, toast, egg, hams, cheese, cake, croissant and yogurts. Overall I would recommend this hotel, just not when it’s hot. …
Im not sure why people write negatively about this hotel It was absolutely charming. Our room was spacious and quintessentially Italian in the very best regard. The bathroom was large and included a bath. Very clean and everything in working order. What was once a home to a wealthy family now shares its walls with guests for all to enjoy. The staff were just gorgeous. Helpful and generous with their knowledge of Florence they made sure we were happy and well catered for. There is a sweet little restaurant for dinner and breakfast and also a private courtyard for an alfresco beverage, but bring your mosquito repellant as it can tend to have these pesky little insects once the sun has gone down. If charming and old world is your style then I recommend this hotel. Perfectly situated in walking distance to Florence bridges and also the Michelangelo Piazza where you can capture views over the city for that perfect memory making moment. Thanks for a lovely stay! Mick and Kristy…
Deserves its three stars. Liberty 1920s building and interesting decor, otherwise unpretentious but fine. In February room temperature ok, double windows keep road noise out, price low. Duomo etc is 2 km away along riverside road/path/bike path. Perfect hotel if you bring a bike on a train.
stayed here for 2 nights ideal base to visit florence. hotel parking and location was spot on i have stayed in better places but this did us proud could not complain. staff were pleasant and helpful room was clean and tidy.
We were most satisfied with this guest house. The bathroom in our room was a bit odd, being mainly a narrow passage with a shower at the end, but perfectly functional and acceptable all the same. A couple of nice touches such as the provision of insect repellent were appreciated. Good breakfast which they made an effort to serve us earlier than is normally the case to allow us time to eat before our early morning tour. If you have time, it is feasible to get to the hotel from the main railway station using a regular bus, but otherwise a taxi is the best choice although fairly pricey. There are regular buses from close to the guest house into the city centre, reliable and staff and passengers are helpful. Otherwise it is a longish but pleasant walk to the main central tourist attractions such as the Duomo. Hotel quiet. Good free wifi…
Stopped here for 3 nights with another couple and couldn’t understand some of the negative reviews it had attracted? We stopped in rooms 301 and 1 which were adjacent to each other behind the mirrored doors near reception, both basement rooms, 301 having a small outside seating area and double doors out to it. Both rooms had air conditioning which was great (40• during our visit). Rooms were very clean, bathroom was good with a great shower, really powerful after walking around in the heat. 2 young guys checked us all in, this process was quick and friendly, they both explained everything and made us aware of the city tax on check in but were happy to wait until we left to pay it. You can purchase beer and wine from reception and equally they’re happy to cool your drinks in their fridge, which helped. There’s a nice communal outside seating area too but be sure to take some bug repellent, every time we sat outside the guys from reception came and lit repellent sticks which helped but it was very hot and the insects loved it! (I’m reviewing the hotel and not the local wildlife 😀). Location, it’s about a 20 minute walk to Ponte Vecchio where you have access to all of the piazzas and attractions, the hotel is also on a bus route or it’s around 15 euros to here by taxi, you could save yourself some money and get dropped off at Ponte alle Grazie and enter the popular area that way (8-10 euros) It’s around 30 euros in a taxi to and from the airport and 15 to and from the train station. All in all this a nice little hotel, if you need a more modern hotel closer to the centre then be prepared to pay 3-4 times more, this was great value. I’d definitely stop there again, thanks to the staff for a nice welcome and good service!…
This hotel has the potential to be the epitome of Tuscan charm, sadly it is shabby, run down and even the garden looked like it was neglected. Our family room had a strange antique shop smell. (Not pleasant). There was no hot water for two days, the room safe did not work, breakfast albeit only €5 each was below par for Italy. However the staff were on the whole friendly. I’m glad it was only for 3 nights. The James Joyce bar at the end of the road has a young buzzing vibe and offers a welcome drink on your walk back from Florence centre.
