The hotel is all that I wanted, and the prices were fair. The room was modern and spotless, the bed was comfortable. I took the three flights of stairs each time, but there is an elevator. Complementary wireless internet was fast with coverage in my room. The breakfast was free and on par with all of the other breakfasts I've...

A great location. Only a short walk from the train station. Handy to the river and to the main town. Easy access at front entrance. We stayed in a wheelchair accessible room on the first floor. The room was very spacious and clean. there is a great spacious bathroom with a tiled wet floor shower . The lift to the...

This hotel is near the Amrigo Vespuci bridge on the city side of the Arno and about a 12 minute walk from the Ponte Vecchio. The room was clean, comfortable, not too large, but not too small either. The breakfast was good but not as extensive as some I have had. The staff was extremely helpful especially pointing out good...

The good: 20 minute walk from Duomo and center of town. Owner very helpful and willing to show you attractions The bad: Terrible breakfast (worst I've had in Italy). Very poor selection and stale pastry. The room had a musty smell to it and the ones not facing the street is literally two feet from someone else's window. If you...

I was quite disappointed with this hotel after the glowing reviews I read before booking. Our stay here was quite different. The hotel room itself was clean and had decent facilities but yes the bathroom is very very small. However our room on the second floor lacked air con and therefore being able to sleep / getting ready was very...

Room was originally set up as two beds, 2nd day staff joined the beds into one. Room very simply decorated but was spacious and clean.Had an early trip the 1st day so were too early for breakfast. My husband and I (ages 62 & 70) arrived in Florence by train from Rome May 2012. As advertised, it was an easy walk while rolling suitcases from the train station - maybe 10-15 minutes. The hotel is newly remodeled - very modern and clean. We were greeted by the owners son Nedd? We just loved him. He was so...

Stayed here last week for three nights and I cannot fault the hotel at all. I had a single room which was a reasonable size with a large bathroom. The bed was really comfy and the linen of superb quality. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Great location, just 5 mins walk to the Santa Maria Novella square and the...

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
