Since the mid 1980s, I have made the Calzaiuoli Hotel my only choice for a hotel in Florence. The location is excellent, the rooms are very clean and well appointed, and the service is most personable. In a city as breathtaking as Florence, why would you need more in a hotel? This hotel is a wonderful value, and I have...

We just returned from our trip to Italy and stayed at the Calzaiuoli Hotel one night while in Florence. The hotel was very nice. We arrived around noon and were able to check right in. Our room was very large and nicely decorated. It was a corner room that faced the front and had a great view of the streets....

My husband and I stayed here over a weekend. I chose the hotel for the location, which turned out to be a pro and a con. While it is on a walking street right in the middle of a great neighborhood and there is no car traffic, there is a lot of foot traffic, and we heard voices yelling late...

My husband and I just returned from Florence and we loved the Calzaiuoli Hotel. Talk about a perfect location. Within steps to the Duomo, Uffizi gallery, restaurants, shopping, pastry shops and the most terrific gelatto just across the way. Breakfast was very nice, quite quaint. The staff in the breakfast room was very accomodating. Best cappacino around. The staff at...

It is ironic that most people research and plan their vacations online, (I found the Calzaiuoli on the Internet, I reserved my room online and communicated with the hotel via e-mail -- All done online). BUT, when you get to the Calzaiuoli, if you ask to use the internet, they will charge the unbelievable amount of 5 Euros for 30...

We stayed in this hotel in Feb 2009 - so we had an amazing off season price and experience. You'll have to base our review on that. And with that being said, the hotel experience and value were incredible. First off, the location is stunning - literally 2 steps from the Duomo. We even had a view of the Duomo...

We stayed at the Calzaiuoli 4 nights in April, having booked after reading the reviews on this site, and were extremely pleased. The hotel has a fantastic location on Via Calzaiuoli, seconds away from the Duomo and Piazza de la Republica. Just for this it is worth it. The room was quite big, clean, and very quiet. Note that there...

We stayed at this hotel last June. I was worried because we usually stay in more expensive hotels, but we were not going to be in Florence long, so I didn't want to splurge. This hotel was just fine. The room was very clean and quiet. It was actually bigger than I was expecting! The A/C worked fine, the bathroom...

Unbelievable location!! Great room, big size, updated baths were a treat, views out of window onto Piazza della Republica were fantastic! Daily breakfast was a treat, nothing fancy just a good start to the day. Cappucino is the best there, service was fantastic each morning. Book directly through hotel, get the Prosecco package, excellent hotel service with bags, location, directions....

My husband and I loved the location of this hotel. We were so close to so many of the major sites. Even though the hotel is on the major pedestrian street, our room was quiet. The staff was helpful in giving recommendations. Our bed was comfortable and the size of the room was great. The bathroom was also a nice...

Staying in Duomo

Neighbourhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
